Beautiful church

We love to visit churches and this one did not disappoint. We were lucky enough to attend service and it was beautiful.

It's a cute church, inside and outside. I found it so light on the inside, everything is white. Peaceful sensation.

Gothic church with some 18th century interior. Nothing spectacular but it was on our way from Alexanderplatz to Berlin Cathedral so we peeked in.

Definitely worth a visit, this is an amazing, medieval church that has been well preserved given its location & the history of the city. Artwork is fantastic to view & the altar and organ are beautiful to see.

St. Marienkirche or St. Mary's Church is a very old church in Central Berlin which was built in the 13th Century as a Catholic church but became a Lutheran church as the Protestant Reformation. It is a fairly simple church near other sights in the central city and can be easily visited along with other sights.

This is one of the two oldest churches- the other one is Nikolaikirche. It is worth a visit if you are around. You can have some rest near the Neptunbrunnen fountain and then enjoy some silence in this church. One of the most important artefacts in the church is Totentanz (dance of death) in the entrance hall.

As we were staying in the superb Park Inn Radisson Blu in Alexanderplatz this beautiful church was only a short stroll away. Built in the gothic style of architecture it commands respect and certainly looks amazing, set in a lovely square that when we visited was on a lovely hot day and with the superb water features and stunning backdrop of... Lovely architecture, light and airy interior. Originally built in 13th century, but now mostly reconstructed after WWII. Amazingly it was restored under the DDR.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
