My family took a bike tour in Berlin led by Daniel on Friday 20th April. We had a really great day out visiting many of the city"s Iconic locations. Our guide provided us with a potted history of Berlin's complicated 20th century story which was really interesting. Our guide was both informative and entertaining. We also had a delicious lunch... We pre booked, well advised, and had the best time. Fabulous way to see Berlin on a short visit. Jef (one f) from Hobart was our guide and he was fun, informative and great company... he offers tips and answers queries about Berlin on the tour, and, afterwards too. Excellent value, we're doing the Fat Tire tours in the next... More

Once we got past the rather chaotic check in, a group of 19 of us headed off with Jef (one f) from Hobart. As previous posters have remarked Berlin is very flat and for such a large city there is surprisingly little traffic and so riding a bike around the city is surprisingly easy. We had a super day, Jef... More

My friends and I took this tour and It ended up being one of favorite activities in Berlin. Our tour guide PB was awesome. She spoke perfect English and was funny and engaging. She educated us about the wall and its impact to Berlin. The tour was perfect for us because we had already visited the main tourist sites. She... More

Berlin is flat, there are plenty of cycle lanes, distances are manageable, and the drivers are very mild-mannered and courteous. The 4.5 hour cycle tour is a great way to see many of the sites and get a sense of this surprisingly attractive city. One does not need to be an athlete and the saddles are very soft and comfortable.... More

Our family of five had a really great time on this day tour of Berlin in April 2017. Our guide, Hannah, was brilliant - she expertly led a group around the city and stopped to explain various aspects of the city's history. She did this with appropriate sensitively and humour, making sure we were all engaged. The bikes are VERY... More

What a great way to spend 5 hours or so exploring Berlin with a knowledgable guide. Ours was Jacob, who did a really great job with our group of around 20. Starting right under the television tower, the tour covered around a dozen key sites around the city, with a lunch stop in the Tiergarten in the West side before... More

My wife and I used our Berlin Pass to book onto the Fat Tire Bike Tour of Berlin (include in the price of the card). It was the BEST thing we did. What a fantastic day - 4.5 hours taking a steady pace round the streets (and back streets of Berlin) and stopping at some of its most prominent historical... More

Freezing cold with sun....but great fun. It snowed in April! Kids loved it, tour guide Claudia gave just the right amount of information at each stage.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
