If you're new to Berlin, I highly recommend you book a Discover Berlin tour early in your trip. Our tour guide, Darrin was exceptional at relating (potentially dry) historical facts in interesting, memorable ways. He has the knack for story telling, and it doesn't hurt that his doctoral work is related to the topic. Darrin knew his stuff, and everyone... More

Our first time in Germany/Berlin and we were recommended to try this tour. Absolutely excellent. Dennis was really knowledgeable and entertaining and kept us going at a good pace. If, like us, you have never been before it was a perfect way to orientate and to get the highlights at the same time. I would absolutely endorse the recommendation.

After taking two walking tours within the city of Berlin we decided to try out the concentration camp tour. Our guide Beth couldn't have been more knowledgeable or approachable. The history of the camp during WWII is fascinating and even though the day was absolutely miserable, we couldn't get enough of the information we were being given. This is not... More

We had a great guide Ken who was able to give us a condensed history of Berlin. We saw all the major sites. We also enjoyed his sense of humour. Would highly recommend this tour.

Rachel was excellent. Really liked the tour. She was very informed and also liked that it covered so many aspects of Berlin and what Berliners are like. Really made me think.

This was a wonderful and informative tour hosted by a great chap named Alex. Alex's knowledge and passion for the city and its history was clear from the get go. He was engaging and kept the content of his talks both relevant and interesting. I would certainly recommend taking a tour with him

The tour from Berlin to sachenhausen is a must! The terrible conditions where people lived and died dring the nazi time and the soviet occupation. We must never forget these places and what happend there!! So it can't be done again! Our tourguide Beth was very friendly and helpfull. She knew everything about it. For people that take this tour... More

Not too nice weather, but our guide Rachel gave us 4 nice hours of Berlin history. Not only an automatic talk, but filled with extra info and even an East German joke!!

This tour was brilliant! Can't recommend it enough. Our tour guide was Ysanne and she was fantastic! Extremely talented at presenting - very engaging, informative and likeable. It was our first time in Berlin and we did the tour on our first full day and we're so glad that we did! We learned so much about Berlin's history and it... More

4 hours went by in a flash. Pip was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and amusing guide who went at a perfect pace for a group of 17 people. A great introduction to Berlin and enabled us to plan what we wanted to go back to. Pip gave us tips on other places to explore. Highly recommended

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
