Plus, Jared our guide mentioned Run Lola Run which made me smile! He wove together so much history and different stories seamlessly and made many of them relevant to what's happening in our world today. We learned loads from him too. Great guide with an amazing ability to walk backwards without hitting anything while talking. Thanks Jared.

We really enjoyed our walk despite it being a bitterly cold day. We found the guide, Barnaby, extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and amusing and were fascinated with all the interesting facts we learned during the walk. We also appreciated the short coffee break at the halfway point where we had a chance to warm up again. The 4 hours went quickly... More

We took the classical tour (famous insider walk) and definitely enjoyed it. Barnaby did a great job balancing the descriptions with detail and personal touch. Good pace, we covered everything end to end in ~4 hours and enjoyed Barnaby's British humor together with stories flavoured with his personal experiences. We highly recommended both the tour and the guide.

Mike Stack of Insider Tour was a great guide for our family. His knowledge and energy was enough to keep our teenagers engaged. We were fortunate to do 3 separate morning tours with him. He was good at knowing when to shift gears when interest was lacking. He had a great sense of humor. He carefully guided us through the... More

Recommended to me by my work colleague. Chose the Famous Insider Walk (Tour Number 1). Barnaby was our guide. He is truly a gentle giant! Humorous, knowledgable and kept us entertained and very insightful. He even lent some caps, scarves to visitors who did not come prepared for Berlin in November! There are several tours from this Operator, however this... More

We did the Insider Tour of berlin. Our guide Barnaby was informative and entertaining and very patient. Apart from the historical information on the tour, he gave us lots of advice on how to make the most of our weekend stay in Berlin. Though it was quite cold on the day he remained good -humoured and helpful. He even stayed... More

Spending four hours in the company of Barnaby is just not long enough! His vast knowledge on all things Berlin was delivered in humorous and entertaining way. Would highly recommend the "Famous Walk" tour as an essential part of any visit to Berlin especially one led by Barnaby.

We took the Cold War tour with Barnaby. From the first minute (even before we'd bought our tickets), Barnaby was fun, engaging, and helpful. The 4-hour tour positively flew by as we zipped around via Berlin public transport and learned about the people and history of Berlin during the Cold War (via really entertaining historical AND personal stories). We asked... More

We took the Famous Insider walk with Insider Tour on Friday 26th Nov. It was absolutely fabulous. Maria our guide was brilliant. Incredibly knowledgeable, very funny and a lovely person. This tour takes you to all the major sites in Berlin and gives you loads of history too. It's quite a long way (we walked about 10 miles in total... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
