This is a wonderful district of Berlin that is absolutely brilliant to visit. We are in Berlin every August for the fabulous Berlin Beer Festival ( Biermeille) and we always end up here with its great array of pubs, bars and restaurants and interesting architecture. Jumping the Sbahn, S 5.7.75 to stop Berlin Savignyplatz this brings you into this amazing... More

Great Cafés, Bars and Restaurants. Just a block behind Kurfürstendamm you'll find this spot. You can perfectly reach it by train (S-Bahn), Bus or Taxi. Perfect for Summer evenings and trying one Bar after another. Many different international cuisine Restaurants. Enjoy this place. I love it.

We spent time here while on a short city break. It is a nice neighbourhood with bars and restaurants and appeals to tourists and local people. It is not an upmarket area so don't expect too much but prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is pleasant. There is easy access to public transport.

We loved this area, much less touristy. The square was beautiful, some shops around and the cafes and restaurants were mixed cuisine, Spanish, Italian, Turkish - to name a few

We stayed at the Hampton by the Hilton Berlin City West, which is located between the Zoologischer Garten and Savignyplatz train stations. Savignyplatz station appears a bit dodgy but that was just a perception based on appearance. There are lots of restaurants, cafes and shops around the area. Most restaurants open until very late in the evening.

Nice square with two 'green' spaces - lots of paths and places to sit make it a good place to chill .

Savignyplatz, a buzzing square with restaurants all around. Great place to bask in the sun, sipping a drink and watch Berlin walk by.

Ate at lovely Italian eateries on three different nights in this location. Lovely, relaxed and leafy square, where there are many venues that have tables out on the cobbles.....lovely ambiance, fantastic food, would definitely recommend a visit. Spanish, Italian, Asian and German taste buds catered for here.

I always skipped coming here in my brief visits to Berlin, then by chance passed by. It gives a nice taste, with all its cafes and shops, about old West Berlin. However, I felt it a bit overrated. In any case it is easy to see. You just have to hop off the S-Bahn in the station bearing the same... More

Areas like this are fast disappearing in Berlin. Go to the lovely restaurants around the area or walk down Kant Strasse to the Kant Cafe. This is as authentic as it gets and so beautiful in the Spring/Summer.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
