This quiet place......platform 17, was where thousands of Jews were transported to various camps. It was chilling to read the numbers of victims and the trequency of these journeys. Once you get to Grunwald, on the S7 line, you will see signs for Gleis17. Look...More

This really is a moving experience unlike the memorial to the murdered Jews. There is no need for 'artificial' monuments dedicated to the holocaust. There are many all to real ones dotted around Europe and this is one of them. They are all chilling.

A moving place, which is subtly done but in a very moving, respectful way of remembrance. Looking around at the district, a quiet, seems well to do area you would not expect this as a departure point for industrial scale murder. The numbers of deportees,...More

We visited this memorial, having previously visited several memorials to Nazi victims, this was an unplanned stop returning from Wannsee. We stayed about 10 minutes. The memorial really drives home the numbers involved, and the patterns of deportation, in numbers and destinations. In my opinion...More

This was the place from where more than 50000 Jews from Berlin went in the trains which took them to their final destination :the death camps.

'Gleis 17' (Track 17) is a platform located adjacent to the main S-Bahn station at Gruenewald - a beautiful and leafy suburb of Berlin. Yet, from this platform, thousands of Jewish Berliners were deported to the death camps between 1941 and the end of 1944....More

Such a peaceful spot today, which witnessed the first steps toward horrors we can only begin to imagine. What strikes you is the progression of dates of transports with their ever-dwindling numbers. Beautifully conceived memorial, well worth your time if you are at all interested...More

The Nazis picked an out of the center train station from which they deported Jews to concentration camps. A moving memorial stated simply, train track, plaques with the number deported, when, and to where. Memorial candles had individual names. The atrocity of sending so many...More

The visit at Gleis 17 takes 10 minutes. Maybe 15. But it is something you will never forget. This is unlike any other Holocaust memorial: this is a real place, with its specific data, and particular story - all presented in a simple, concise and...More
