This is an impressive memorial to the Soviet soldiers who died attacking Berlin. It is also a reminder of how the Soviet Union worked in those days. Some may call it over the top but those who died in war should not be forgotten. It's easy to find and is a 5 minute walk from Treptower station.

This is a moving place to remember the horrors committed during WWII and pay tribute to Soviet soldiers who lost their lives. The place is well maintained, quiet and easily accessible. There are billboards explaining events. It is definitely worth visiting and taking the time to contemplate.

I thought this was impressive, even late on a cold misty December day. It's a fitting memorial to the thousands of dead soldiers who lost their lives liberating Berlin. The grounds and the memorial are worth seeing and it's worth travelling there to see it too.

Came here on Aug. 20/16 when my tour group came into Berlin. Grounds are nature friendly, beautiful and well maintained. Take a long walk to the otherside of the grounds where the Soviet Soldier is holding the little girl and stomping on the nazi symbol, meaning the defeat of the nazi rule. There are only about 25-30 steps at most... More

Soviet soldiers were on the side of the Allies during WW2. This monument honors those soldiers ... notice the hand of the soldier on the top of the monument is extended to protect the German citizenry. Pretty gardens behind the monument. Back of the pillars have names and ranks of some of the fallen soldiers from the Battle of Berlin,

This Soviet War monument is an after-war monument, dedicated only in bravery of the Red Army warriors who conquered the capital city of the 3rd Reich. It's in American Sector and it's confusing but I think that it was built right after the Soviet Occupation of Berlin, and it preserved by the Americans. The fact is that these tanks that... More

The monument is huge, imponent and serious, as it should be. There is a war tank on one of its sides, very cool for photograph.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
