Rude arrogant staff, no one smiles or helps you, Very poor exhibits, 2 galleries were not open when we went. Lovely space but either nothing in it or very poor exhibitions. Very expensive for what there is to see. Worst gallery ever.

Alone this "saved" train station, originally opened in 1846, would be worth the trip -- not far from the new main train station in any case. The permanent collection is focussed on contemporary art and is not everybody's thing, although many of the pieces, such as the Beuys installations, are classics in their own right. The changing exhibitions are not... More

It is a while since I last visited an exhibition here. I really enjoyed the building but was underwhelmed by the special exhibitions.

I was there for the Kirchner exposition. Great paintings but not enough for a sonderaustellung and the price for the tickets was high. The other works in the museum maybe important for the 70's but right now just rubbish

The exhibition in the museum is poor. It looks like the museum is in renovation and many exhibitions halls are closed now.

Those who enjoy contemporary art will love this museum. Very innovative artwork made with a range of different materials including wax, daily household products, and construction materials. I particularly enjoyed their temporary exhibit that imitated American culture. Would visit again.

I bought a ticket from a staff member who seemed to hate their job, or people, or simply me. I can sympathise, but her cheery disposition while pocketing my 28 Euros (two adult tickets) without so much as a 'have a nice day now' rather set me back from fully enjoying the weird traverse around the ground floor. My ticket... More

Like the Tate in London et al this is a " Contemporary" gallery. I really enjoyed the local artists as well as the Beuys, Warhols etc. To me not to missed. Buy the Berlin pass and include it your Berlin visit.

This museum I liked quite a lot, a nice ambiance and different art styles. One of the better musea of Berlin in my opinion.

Staying in Moabit

Neighbourhood Profile
Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighbourhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city centre are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighbourhood in the city.
