Our guide was Simon, and he was very knowledgeable, patient with questions, easy to chat with and approachable. We agree with the other reviews that he gave a very non-judgmental tour which is not an easy task. His knowledge on the topic is vast and we had a few very interesting conversations with him. We enjoyed the tour (although it's... More

It is possible to visit the camp on your own, but I certainly felt I benefitted from having a guide as she was able to give so much information and background. She is an academic specialising in this subject and she definitely knew her stuff. The camp is well worth a visit if you are at all interested in the... More

We had Pietro (sorry if i get the name wrong) as our guide. He was not a native English speaker (i believe he was Italian) but I found him to be very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. My wife is not a native English speaker, so on rare occasions did struggle to understand some elements, but the whole this was a... More

Nobody expected a day out at a concentration camp to be a jolly experience, but I think all of our group were satisfied that they made the effort. We were going to go under our own steam, but saw the Mosaic tour advertised and decided that a tour guide would be able to give us a lot more detail. This... More

It is a place every person has to go experience. It is not only about what the Nazis did. It is a reminder what we must not do. Every time you look down on others or think you are superior to others, think what happened at Sachsenhausen.

Excellent planned out tour provided by Mosaic from start to finish with their tour guide Ronan. So knowledgeable in all aspects without information overload, an excellent informative tour which I would highly recommend.

An excellent, informative tour. Our guide Ronan shared his knowledge and helped us to better understand the historical and financial context of the camp (and other camps) as well as giving us an insight into life and death within the camp and the hierarchies which existed. We travelled with 2 teenagers and a nine year old and Ronan tailored our... More

What a horrible, horrible place, but a thorough, professional tour by Mosaic tours. I'd suggest it to others.

Take a break from the city, do not miss a visit Sachenhausen with the excellent Mosaic, and help to remember. In doing so remind yourself how lucky we are, and as you walk out through the gate you walked in, remember again, no prisoner is thought to have done so other than on a death march near wars end. This... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
