Nice halls inside

We found this the Rotes Rathaus by chance when walking to the TV Tower. It has really nice halls and historical heritage. Good to visit once.

I passed this town hall/ building by chance and would highly recommend you stop by. It's beautiful and open to the public.

Located close to Alexanderplatz this city hall is a great architectural sight to behold. Quite impressive and beautiful. We did however only behold it from outside. From what I heard it is possible to enter as well.

This is Berlin's Town Hall and is a magnificent building that is most certainly very hard to miss with its amazing red bricked exterior. Rotes Rathaus is a well known landmark and has been around since 1859 and although damaged during WW2 it looks amazing now. Open to the public; Monday to Friday,9am till 5pm Saturday and Sunday, closed. I love... More

Berlin's red town hall has a touch of the italian glamour about it. The tower is about 75 metres high but of course dwarfed by the TV Tower closeby. We went inside and enjoyed half an hour looking at the stain glass windows and a display of plastercasts. The stair case is Titanic like. The building has been used for... More

The city hall is huge and has a very interesting architecture being red. Sad thing is that because of the construction site besides it, we could not see it in a perfect angle.

My first impression of Berlin is pretty lifeless and dull. The city itself isn’t very pretty, not in the classical way you would think of European imperial cities. After all, Berlin has been bombed to bits and as soon as WWII ended, it was flung directly into the Cold War. Everywhere I go, there are cranes and construction sites building,... More

We just looked at this from the outside but it is quite different from so much other modern buildings in the city so it is worth making a visit to see it

Visited the Town Hall during a free open day. The building is very nice- especially the exterior. Inside I wasn't too overwhelmed but I think I've been used to the grandeur of town halls in other German cities such as Munich and Hamburg. As I wasn't on a guided tour maybe I missed the real charm inside.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
