When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

I arrived at an event at the Panorama Bar, looking forward to it, and waited outside for two hours before the beginning only to be denied entry at the door without any clear reason. I was neither intoxicated nor aggressive. Upon politely inquiring why, the bouncers immediately turned extremely aggressive, telling me to leave and approached me threateningly. When I requested them not to touch me, one of the bouncers physically pushed me away, stating they didn't have the time to explain. I am genuinely shocked by what Berghain considers acceptable behavior. It's incredibly unfair how someone, who is merely passive and asking a simple question, can be treated so harshly in less than ten seconds. For me, it's zero stars.

all the 'rules' online on how to get in is very far from the truth. as a young english couple we was skeptical if we was going to get in but tried our luck anyways. the excuse you always have to wear black is not valid as i wore a khaki dress and my boyfriend wore a orange top not that it would have mattered as most people seemed to strip off when they got inside anyways. We went on a sunday at 10;30pm and the que was half hour. we had no problems getting in and everyone inside was pleasant felt safe and comfortable. we didn't speak a word of german but it did not matter the bouncers did not even speak to us just waved us in so i would not stress about studying the line up. entry was €25 and the drinks inside were reasonable. music was good and really lived up to our expectations. we will definitely be back

OVER RATED!! We waited in the freezing rain for 2 hours on 14th January from 2:00 - 4:00 am. Many people cut in line, act obnoxiously, and are generally rude. The bouncers don’t see any of this bc the line is so long. Once at the front it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing or how you look…the process is 100% random!! We only got in because we were lucky enough to be right after a run of No, No, No. They’ll then let a couple groups in before going No, No, No again. Inside the club is cool, but it is in no way that much better then many of the other amazing Berlin techno clubs.

“Not today guys” with stupid voice. First time ever I got rejected on a club. I went to another the same night and was nice. Don’t wast your time here if you are a tourist.

Most stupid place to wait for an hour in the queue just not to be allowed in. Seems like the arrogant security guards just love to play god in their little province.

Racist and rude bouncers.

Went there with my girlfriend this Sunday at 21.00. There was few people in line. So it was no way near rush hour and plenty of space inside.

I am from Denmark, but my girlfriend South American, as soon as they heard us speaking Spanish, the mood changed, and we were rejected while others we let in.

Having read horror stories about evening queues I turned up at 10 am Sunday and had to wait, seriously, only five minutes to get to the front!

As a 66 year old (I've been into German electronic music since the 70s) I wasn't exactly their core demographic nor am I gay, but I dressed for the occasion (black), I was by myself and I speak a bit of German. Once I'd persuaded them that I was serious they let me in.

Note that in Berghein you're there to dance. Not to pose. Not to sit around with friends telling each other how cool you are. There is no merch. There are no upmarket tables or bars or expensive bottles of champagne. And of course no photos. Getting the picture?

I thought I'd stay for a few hours, I stayed for fourteen! It's an incredible place, almost more like than an indoor resort rather than just a club - I can see why people spend entire weekends there.

The real action, the heart of Berghein, is the main hall which is like a small cathedral with its size and high ceiling. It's hot and dark and loud, with some of the most hard core industrial techno I've ever heard. There's also the smaller Panorama bar which plays house, is more light and has a bar in it if you want something less intense for a while.

Plenty of places to.chill out, plus the notorious dark rooms if you want to make out - I didn't. Several bars of various types as well, including the famous ice cream bar.

It's well organised and feels safe and staff and crowd inside were wonderful. BTW despite accusations of racism on TripAdvisor I saw plenty of non Anglo people in there.

Note that all transactions are cash and they only sell snacks for food - there's a hot food van outside and a lot of people bring their own which is what I did.

Don't approach it as just another Friday/Saturday night outing. Remember there's no way all the people.who queue in those nights could fit in. Turn up at a non peak time to increase your chances anfmd if you do get in you're in for the ride of your life!

Truly exquisite club experience - there’s a reason people queue for hours. The queue is exactly the reason I won’t return, however, despite it being one of my most memorable nights out (hedonistic doesn’t even begin to cover it).

When I go out, it’s on and I’m on! I want to have fun, dance, interact with people. Standing meekly and quietly for hours (with the potential for not being let in!) isn’t my idea of a good time. But it’s an excellent, often-used marketing tool which in this case is exceedingly successful.

Queued for a couple of hours on a Saturday night. Arbitrary and opaque admission process (we saw only a handful of people get in!).

Quite glad in retrospect as the bouncer on the door was incredibly hostile. As we walked away I took a photograph of our disappointment (one for the memory bank) and was physically assaulted!! This bouncer (photographed) walked over without saying a word and punched me to the ground.

Thankfully I wasn't seriously hurt, but this is more luck than anything else. Had I been facing the guy, or hit the floor in a different way, things could have been much, much worse. Truly dispicable behaviour.

It is incredibly disappointing to see such hostility given the apparent progressive and inclusive nature of this club. I certainly will not be returning and would advise all of you thinking of attending to consider an alternative. If this level of violence can happen on the outside where photography is permitted (and, on the back of that, a level of accountability) I dread to think what might happen inside where such things are strictly prohibited.
