Overview
More
The Berlin Wall Memorial is the central memorial site of German division, located in the middle of the capital. Situated at the historic site on Bernauer Strasse, it extends along 1.4 kilometers of the former border strip. The memorial contains the last piece of Berlin Wall with the preserved grounds behind it and is thus able to convey an impression of how the border fortifications developed until the end of the 1980s. The events that took place here together with the preserved historical remnants and traces of border obstacles on display help to make the history of Germany's division comprehensible to visitors. The memorial is part of the Berlin Wall Foundation, which also includes the Marienfelde Refugee Center Museum, the central site dedicated to the history of flight and emigration in divided Germany. MOBILE TOURGUIDE Visitors to the Berlin Wall Memorial who have a smartphone or a tablet computer with internet access at their disposal have the opportunity to select an individual tour of the memorial grounds for themselves on the memorial's mobile website berliner-mauer.mobi.

Here you can overlook a real section of the Berlin Wall, including the buffer zones. Indeed a place with a lot of atmosphere, guiding the visitor thorugh the DDR times.

Authentic piece of the wall and a watch tower. Makes you think, what the hell happened during the DDR time in Berling. Great view from the platform. Do visit the small museum inside.

The museum walk through and the top deck view of the wall were the best part. I would not spend a lot of time there. Educational for sure!

You can see parts of the all around Berlin however it is worth visiting this memorial as you get to see a larger section of the wall. The surrounding memorial is interesting and informative with a lot of billboards, audio and video explaining the rise...More

We were surprised at how little of the Wall remains, but this Memorial sets out the story from its creation very well. The reconstructed 'death zone' was interesting, but the highlights were the human stories of escapes, repression and resilience.

Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
