An important square which hosts Brandenburg Gate and is surrounded by some embassies. Tiergarten is nearby and easily accessible through Brandenburg Gate.

This lovely square was one of the only places in Berlin we felt there are other tourists visiting too.
It's busy, beautiful and provides many photo-ops.

Pariser Platz is located in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate, at the western end of Unter den Linden boulevard.

The square is named after the French capital, in honor of the Allied occupation of Paris in 1814 during the Napoleonic Wars.

During World War II, the buildings surrounding Pariser Platz were destroyed to the ground. The Brandenburg Gate was the only structure that survived without serious damage.

The square belonged to East Berlin after the war, but with the construction of the Berlin Wall, it became a border zone to which the public had no access. After the reunification of Germany, the square has been restored to its former glory.

However, many new buildings have been built such as embassies. On the edge of the square is Berlin's most famous Hotel Adlon.

This is Berlin's nicest square- lots of beautiful buildings & a very nice atmosphere rather than somewhat drab, austere squares nearby.
We enjoyed a lovely glass of German wine sitting at the terrace of the Adlon watching the world go by.

Pretty, stylized, stylish square, named after the capital of France after it was captured in 1814 by anti Napoleonic allies, and featuring big name firms, the Adlon hotel, the US embassy, and of course the 18th century Brandenburger Tor. Awesome and uber photogenic.

Well, this is the central and famous square mostly for the Brandenburg gate standing here. Apart from it, there're several major embassies and luxury hotels. Cafes and restaurants are on the far expensive side.
So, every visitor to Berlin will come here, but wont spend much time as after some pics with the gate there's nothing more to do.

A place to view the Brandenburg Gate with little to impose on that view, Pariser Platz is alive with tourists and locals performing for you loose change.
A gathering of people opposing War in Iran was an unexpected but reassuringly nice thing to witness. Seeing the passion of the people is always an honour when travelling the world, regardless of whether you share their views.

This is where the Brandenburg Gate is. It is a tourist area and has many horse and carts for hire. The ground seems to be paved rather than cement or bitumen and a hive of activity. They have a Berlin Tourist office here but it must be hidden as I did not find it or maybe it moved!

Pariser Platz is without a shadow of a doubt the most popular tour destination for the hordes of tourists that descend on this city.
Home to the magnificent Brandenburg Gate and in a square with such grand architecture, it's a square that day or night is packed.
Obviously the Brandenburg Gate is the big draw here but its only a few minutes walk from here to the Reichstag building, one thing always puzzles me about Pariser Platz that for such a tourist magnet there is not much in the way of pubs, bars and restaurants, theres a couple of restaurants, a Starbucks but other than that very little else,I would think that this is the perfect square to have lots of pubs, bars and restaurants but that's just my opinion.
I love the architecture here, the history and the vibrancy of Pariser Platz.
Well worth checking out if your planning a holiday to Berlin.
