This is billed as one of the top things to do in Berlin. Trying to do the right thing I booked on line before we went and paid 23.50 euros each for a fast track entry and "secure" table booking at the window in the restaurant. Stupidly (admittedly!) I presumed this entitled us to more a trip in a lift... More

OK there are tons of places to see actually every step has its own history, but the tower is the symbol of Berlin as a couple of other monuments. Around the tower the city is alive vibrant and fun. I love the tower and area everyone has something to enjoy. Shopping to food, etc.

We had the continental breakfast with prosecco, a lovely way to start our first full day in Berlin. My daughter and boyfriend had a cooked breakfast which they enjoyed.

Great panoramic vistas of Berlin with 4 places of interest noted at each window which was very informative. Nice to relax in the bar with a couple of beers however the donoughts were not the freshest by any stretch of the imagination.

While in Berlin, it's on the list of "must do" sites. Go at night! You see the entire city lit up. You can buy your tickets ahead of time, but we didn't need too. We walked right up to the ticket counter. The bar is nice, and they have cider!! They do take credit cards everywhere.

This amazing relic of the DDR is now a very popular tourist attraction, delivering spectacular reviews across all of Berlin. All the original East German design has been retained inside and there is a distinct air of the past inside the foyer. Prices to ascend to the viewing deck are reasonable (€14) and families can benefit from a family ticket... More

We went up the tower at night and had great panoramic views of the city. You go up pretty quick in the lift then enter to the observatory. There is also a bar and a restaurant on the next level up. Each view point has photos and information about what you are looking out onto.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
