Used as a commercial and military transport center before World War I, this famous town square, which was trapped in the no-man's-land next to the Berlin Wall during the Cold War, is currently under construction to become once again one of Berlin's...more

I'm not really impressed by either Potsdamer Platz or Alexander Platz: they're both fairly ugly open spaces with concrete everywhere. Potsdamer Platz has the added problem of also being a fairly major traffic intersection. Not really worth going out of your way to visit, although...More

Stroll through theses spaces and look up. Magnificent structures of glass and steel, exposed lifts and fountains. A busy traffic intersection and stations. The Sony centre worth a visit for three floors of tech.

This is like a series of Malls anywhere in the world so not unique by any means but this is Berlin, there are many gems and so you really must visit: the Tiergarten on one side, world-class concert halls, libraries and Museums, a brilliant Cinema...More

Before you visit Potsdamer Platz, make sure you see the photos of it after the war-it was a pile of rubble with only the traffic tower still standing after Allied bombings. See it now and it takes your breath away. I entered it from the...More

I took a stroll around as often when I go to Berlin. Please do too. There's always something new even in the places we've been several times.

Very unique building in Berlin. Lots of stores and restaurants in the area Worth a picture stop. Have lunch nearby.

We were walking to the Mall of Berlin from hotel and passed here..... really nice feel to it. Looking back we should have chilled out in one of the bars and stayed longer.

Rides, food and Christmas market- what's not to like. Also, the Sony IMAX, restaurants and shopping centre in the same area, so certainly worth a visit.

Our hotel was nearby so we visited daytime and after dark. Would suggest the latter if your itineraty only allows one quick visit, although it's a short walk from the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, etc, if in the area. Also close by is the Mall of...More

Really busy place to visit with large modern buildings as little remained after World War 2. There are also pieces of the wall here which seem to be a place for tourists to be photographed with. However if you look at the other side there...More

Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through
the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which
lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood.
Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city:
upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades
and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone
streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through
little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop

While not answering your question directly I can say we stayed right near Check Point Charlie and really liked that location. Personally I don't think you need that class of accommodation in the very modern city of Berlin.
