A central busy square. In the area you can enjoy a nice Christmas market, two shopping malls, ice-skating rink, restaurants, a night club and a movie theater. It is very nice to visit the area and get the feel of the city day and night.

Potsdamer Platz may be important. I did not like it, though. The glass high rises are of dark colours. On a gloomy day they look massive, but not nice. The whole area lacks atmosphere. I am not keen on going there again intentionally.

Called here mid morning for a look at the Christmas Market. Its deceptively larger then it first appears to the eye. We loaded up with some gluvine mit rum and then casually strolled around the market. The stalls are fantastic to look at with a...More

Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through
the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which
lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood.
Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city:
upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades
and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone
streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through
little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop

While not answering your question directly I can say we stayed right near Check Point Charlie and really liked that location. Personally I don't think you need that class of accommodation in the very modern city of Berlin.
