Neighbourhood: Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.

Larger park not far from Alexanderplatz. The park has many jogging and walking trails as well as playgrounds with water features, beach volleyball courts and more.
Ideal for a stroll or more serious exercise. Food and drink facilities are on site. Plenty of open areas for picnickers or sun worshippers.

Nice park for jogging, playing volleyball-beach, doing Yoga and Pilates. Unfortunately in Summer some people aren’t taking care of it, so its full of trash and toilet paper everywhere

Volkspark Friedrichshain is a green oasis in the massive stone jungle called Berlin.
Here you can lie down in the grass, chill on the benches, take walk or a run, play volley ball, remember and honour soldiers who fell during WWII - and if you have a dog there is a secluded area where she can play with other happy dogs.

In Volkspark Friedrichshain, we saw the wonderful fairy tale fountain, with 4 basins decorated with water jets and very beautiful sculptures, including:
- many animals, with a beautiful turtle
- and nine other sculptures by Ignatius Taschner, which represent the famous Grim tales: Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, the Seven Crows, Hansel and Gretel, Lucky Jean, Brother and Sister, Sleeping Beauty. We learned that one of the sculptures of the Seven Dwarfs had the features of the German painter Adolph Menzel!!!

Spacious park with lots of greenery, pathways, art and lawns for a lie down. There is a hillock in the middle, at the top of which folks gather for a game of volleyball, badminton, a grill or just lounging. Nice park.

The Friedrichshain district is an area I love visiting on any holiday I take to Berlin,an eclectic and hip district, busy and vibrant but I sometimes enjoy visiting Volkspark,a park with a city centre location but at the same time it's very tranquil.
Theres some nice architecture in the park, lovely statues and water features, a superb cafe and lots of interesting features, nice walking paths ensure you can have a good walk around and theres some bench seating to just relax on and chill out.
Well worth checking out if your in the area.

Whilst walking round the surrounding area not too far from our hotel we discovered Volkspark and loved it!
The mixture of winding paths, lakes and water features, trees and courtyards put our parks to shame!
It is so relaxing to have a quiet stroll through any time of the day and is amazing to discover what is round the next corner. There are adventure playgrounds and even a bar and restaurant!
Worth a visit to rest and recover between sightseeing! You won't struggle to find somewhere to sit either! There are benches everywhere and plenty of room that you don't feel overwhelmed with too many people around.

We found this beautiful little park as we were wandering around this part of town.
It's not in the same league as Tiergarten but it is nice with well kept grounds,a beautiful fountain and some interesting features ,there's a cafe also perfect for refreshments and the whole area is surrounded by some really interesting architecture, with its Friedrichshain district location,it's a popular park but at the same time very tranquil.
Well worth checking out.

Less than 15 minutes walk from Alexander Platz, through quiet streets lined with apartment blocks, is this peaceful oasis – two highlights: the excellent Pavillon Berlin cafe as you enter, with a great garden and generous German pub food, and the charming Märchenbrunnen, lined with characters from Grimm, at the far end of the park. Just don’t go to the Volkspark for the view from the Trummerberg (rubble hill) - by mid May the trees and bushes have grown so much you cannot see a thing from the top platform – the 10 minute hike up serves only as exercise, nothing more!
