Just a few minutes walk from Alexanderplatz you can find this beautiful park in East Berlin. In the summer, people strech on the grasses for sunbath, others go jogging and you few integrated in the local atmosfere of the city. Very nice place to visit!

Volkspark Friedrichshain is a nice place to just go and chill out in especially if you've had a heavy night out in one or more of the innumerable pubs, bars and restaurants that are to be found around the Friedrichshain district. The park is an interesting...More

This was the East Berlin version of Central Park. Tons of walk paths, playgrounds, a skate park, volleyball courts, a nice restaurant, fountains, etc. - All easy in the eyes and budget. BIG!

Take the M4 from Alexanderplatz to Am Friedrichshain vs Falkenberg (4 minutes). First enjoy the lovely Märchenbrunnen fountain with fairytale figures from german folktales. Just a short walk into the park you'll find Restaurant Schoenbrunn and Beergraden. Have a quiet lunch with a beer or...More

We saw an advert for the fountains and made the trip to see them. The were boarded up and there was no water in the pools. Even the boxes around the statutes were covered in graffiti. Berlin seems to be covered in graffiti. Some of...More

This is a lovely park. Perfect playgrounds for our children, however we were disapppointed that the Fairy Tale Fountains were still in winter protection boxes, despite it being April.

I love walking in this park as unlike the majority of Berlin there are steep hills! Historical note: there are two artificial mountains made from WW2 bunkers and the rubble of ruined buildings. Not only that but the park in general in very nice and...More

We walked to the Fairy Tale fountain in Volkspark Friedrichshain because it was featured in a book we were reading at the time. It is east of Alexanderplatz at the entrance to the first public park in Berlin. The fountain was originally opened in 1913...More

We visited mainly to see the fairytale fountain with sculptures inspired by the Brothers Grimm characters as recommended in my guide book. However, being winter they were boxed off (which makes sense as it was below 0) which was disappointing as I had hoped to...More

It was coolish and rainy but we enjoyed our walk through this park. Easy to get there by s line. Good for jogging or simply sitting. Places for dogs to walk freely. A small zoo free of charge (the camels were so desperate they were...More

When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of
the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party
hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is
palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter
are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may
find a bar with international crowds, electronic
music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other,
an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit
