I went on the Alternative Berlin tour with Ace(?) to see the street-art/graffiti side of Berlin and I was not disappointed! Seeing all the street-art and hearing about the people who created them, and how they did it really gave me a new found appreciation for it. It was also nice to go to areas outside the usual touristy areas... More

You must must do this tour if you want to see the street art and the cultural side of Berlin. We crossed over from east to west Berlin, and the difference was stark. The art was fantastic and I wouldn't have minded if the tour went on longer. We saw most of the key pieces but would loved to see... More

Alexandra took our group off the beaten path and gave us insights and a better understanding of the street art that makes Berlin so unique. I wasn't too sure what to expect from a free, tip-based, but wow, Alexandra set a really high bar. Her warm, approachable style combined with her knowledge and passion for the Berlin creative scene made... More

I did both the brewery tour & Anti Bar crawl - and would absolutely recommend both. I think that the brewery tour is a great way to make friends while abroad and i loved the tour guides too!! The anti bar crawl is definitely a different vibe than the brew tour, but they split us up and we still got... More

My friend and I took 2 tours while in Berlin--they were both fantastic! I hate pub crawls but this one was refreshing and unique. Julia was professional and fun and I totally loved their "rules" in the beginning. Solid company, solid tour, solid guide. Thanks, Julia! We also took the Street Art tour and workshop. WOW. Very impressed with our... More

We had an amazing tour with Jake. We got a chance to see street art and other interesting parts of Berlin through the eyes of a Berlin artist.

I took the Alternetive Berlin Tour, which is free, and it was a very nice experience. A lot of the things we saw are there to be seen by anyone (as street art normally is), but with the expertise and knowledge of our guide Camy (Camie?), I could actually learn a lot about the graffiti, street-art culture, as well as... It was really nice to get to know the other side of berlin, the street art one, with lots of explanations regarding the artists that had their job in kreuzeberg (incredible neighbourhood, btw).

I would not recommend going on this tour. We attended and had around 25 people in the tour group. Upon arrival, we were told to buy a beer and wait inside after paying out €12. The tour guides waited out of the front of the bar. I expected some effort to be made to integrate people together, but we were... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
