The currywurst museum got our attention just because it's a bit silly. Currywurst? Yeah, why not? The museum isn't big but it was packed with everything you want to know or don't want to know about currywurst. Well planned museum too and different ways to learn about currywurst. Cinema, smell, read, touch... I like it. Of course there is a... More

Very friendly staff, I was a little bit surprised how much history is behind Currywurst. Sausage was very tasty and reasonably cheap beer. Would be fun for a couple of hours but probably not any longer. I thought it was a bit expensive for Berlin but overall I'd say still worth a visit.

We went there with a small school group of teenagers. We went there basically because the kids had had enough of Berlin's serious museums. They needed a break from doom and gloom, and we thought it would be a fun way to spend an hour on a rainy day. It was indeed a fun experience for them - they enjoyed... More

Funny little museum showing history of currywurst. Being from america I had no idea of the history and how popular currywurst was here. Museum takes maybe an hour to visit. For 16 euros you got the museum and small sample of 3 different currywurst at end of tour

Learn how Currywurst came to be and try your hand as a currywurst vendor in the shop replica. Great for kids with many interactive displays. A nice way to "lighten up" after visiting Topography of Terror and eat some Currywurst.

Although the currywurst we had was very tasty and the people serving the food were very good and had a good command of English the museum is a very expensive joke. Have a currywurst but give the museum a miss.

This was a last minute decision to visit here. The museum has a very "60's" look and feel to it. Good interactivity for kids but nothing to really keep adults interested. We used the Berlin Card for discount but I still think it was too much for what was on offer.

Whether one loves currywurst or not, this museum is not worth the entry fee. 11€ per adult to walk around a room this size of an average apartment which, frankly, doesn't contain anything of real import or surprise, is not worth it. Even the free sample at the end was a tough experience!

We went to this museum on a bit of a whim and essentially for comedy value. It was a fairly expensive joke though at 11 Euros each. I didn't think that was too bad at the time but the museum can be fully covered in about 20 minutes and is basically low on info and high on playtime. When I... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
