Neighbourhood: Schöneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.

I'm passionate about street art, and this museum is really a gem in the middle of Berlin's neighbourhood of Schöneberg. Filled with amazing works and creative street projects from an international range of artists, this museum provides visitors with a fantastic artistic experience also thanks to the great design of the exhibition areas. I strongly recommend it to all urban art lovers - and the entrance is free!

If you are in Berlin, do not forget to go to Urban Nation. In this street-art city of Europe, a place like this was needed. Dedicated to street-art, the exhibitions will help you connect to the artists, and understand the works of art.

This place has free admission, which is incredible for the quality of the work inside. There are a number of pieces by street artists from all over Europe. The works are engaging and thought provoking. There is also a great short video on some of the methods used by graffiti artists. This place really explores street art in an authentic way. Well worth a visit!

Berlin is surely one of the world's street art capitals. That's visible in many places, but the best are the East side gallery (see that review) and this one.
The Urban nation is little bit off the beaten track. It's in the center of Berlin, but not in a very touristic area. The closest attraction is the Kaiser Wilhelm Church which is some 15 min walk from it.
It's a nice street art museum, nicely curated with outstanding art of many international artist. Best of all, it's free, but donations are welcome. Come and see for yourself, you wont regret it.

There’s is so much to see here. From wall murals, to video, to contemporary art, to photography, to storytelling. It’s not a large gallery but we’ll worth the visit. Some storytelling involves video and photography and 2D art and is eye-opening - the tropical reef intervention is particularly interesting.

Probably one of my highlights in Berlin, I loved this museum. It revolves around the life and works of Martha Cooper, American fotoreporter who has seen and followed the birth of street art and several other movements of the underground scene in the world. I didn’t know her before going to the museum but it has definitely aroused my interest and I’ll surely try to get to know something more about her. The museum is perfectly in line with the vibes you can breathe in Berlin. Don’t miss it!

Many great forms of art by tallented young artists. Topics of the works of art conveyed important messages to the modern society. Must-see for street art lovers and not only. There is another smaller part of this gallery down the Buellowstrasse.
There are no tickets but you can chip in voluntarily. I did not see toilets in there, you can wash your hands though.

An interesting experience. Definitely something different. Lady at the desk was polite and spoke great English, we only spent about 45 minutes there, some interesting works of art. The toilets are different too.
If you have an hour free and looking for something to do, I would recommend this. It’s also directly outside the train station which makes it easier to get to.

Came across this by accident while looking for something to visit during a rainy day. I wouldn't travel for hours to see it, but if you're nearby, it's definitely worth a visit. Not very big - you can see it all within 30-60 minutes - but a very pleasant break. Entrance was free. Donations are accepted.
