The Neumünster was built as a romanesque basilica with two transepts. Later it was rebuilt in a baroque style and instead of the west choir equipped with a cupola and a magnificent facade. The interior decoration was made by the brothers Johan Baptist and Dominikus Zimmermann. Under the church building you will find the west crypt, the so called Kilians crypt.... More

This is small church built in between other houses located on the main street. When you enter the church, it extends all the way in and becomes very spacious. There is a dome in the inside. The paintings, artwork and statues inside are beautiful and worth looking at.

Built in the 11th century at the burial site of the Irish monk, St. Kilian. He was an apostle of the Franks who was murdered here in 689 AD along with his companions. The interior was beautiful.

This church has a very nice decoration and settings, it´s definitely a part of the To-Do list of Würzburg. I won´t spoil the history too much, as you may appreciate to discover/read it yourself inside.

The Neumuenster is located directly next to the Cathedral, so it is an easy additional stop. Loved the inside of it and the murals and paintings.

The church is brilliant white inside which made it feel lovely and cool. There is plenty to see and you can't miss the dome. Make sure you see this whilst wandering around Wurzburg.

Located opposite St. Kilian's Cathedral, the Neumunsterkirche has an unmistakable pink baroque exterior with a double sided grey stone balustrade, the type often associated with fine mansions to access a garden area. We entered through a side door, but the main door with its balustrade, fronts a busy shopping area. At the top of the main door are stone sculptures... More

Who would have thought that a cathedral in Germany would be named for an Irish monk. Well here is the unexpected.
