Idyllic bridge with amazing view to castle
Small idyllic bridge from old town of Wurzburg to the big castle on the top of the hill. The bridge has some nice statues and an amazing view to the castle. There are cafes on both side of the river. And after walking up the hill to see the caste in summer heat we had some refreshments at the water mill restaurant. There are also “hole” in the wall serving where you can buy wine and other refreshments to enjoy at the bridge.

A famous bridge over the river Main
This bridge is one of the landmark of the city. It connects the Old Town and the other side of the river. It looks alike Charles bridge in Praque, both of them have many old statues. We walked there going to visit the castle. It was a sunny day and lots of locals and tourists had a drink there, like in a party.

Old Bridge over the River Main
Alte Mainbrücke was the first bridge built over the Main in Würzburg. It has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, most recently in the 18th Century. Now it is a popular place to enjoy being outside, meet up with friends/loved ones and maybe have a glass of Frankonian wine (there is a shop on the edge of the bridge that sells glasses of Frankonian wine).

My second visit to this famous pedestrian bridge which crosses the Main, on the edge of Würzburg Old Town.
Cobbled surface and many statues of Famous Humans.

We crossed this bridge to get to our bus back to our ship - it was the end of our Wurzburg tour. Loved the bridge, reminded me a little of the Charles Bridge in Prague w/ the statues. Great view of the Fortress and there is a wine bar on the bridge so folks just hang out and drink their wine on the bridge. Lots of fun!

LOVED Wurzburg. It's not in most of the guidebooks, but it is a very charming Bavarian city with the impressive residence, Fortress, and a bridge that rivals the one in Prague. Also, if you are into wine, this is the Franconian wine region and a must see.

This bridge crosses the river and gives you a nice view. But more importantly it is a hang out for people at the end of the day to buy a glass of wine and stand on the bridge to socialize with other people. We were standing next to a couple and found out that they were from Hamburg on a 4 day holiday. We got to talking and it turned out that their first names were the same as ours. Fun times. There are places you can buy wine and they make you deposit 5 euros for the glass. You get it back once you turn the glass in.

Wurzburg, Bavaria - Glorious.
We know of its History - its Rightful protection, but to visit it, in autumn, late October as we did, and walk it - just a sheer travelers delight.
We are Australians taking an autumn break in Erfurt, Germany, which visiting and staying in April 2022, we have commenced a "love affair" as it's a "special city to stay, especially located on the High-Speed Rail Line, that gives you massive choice to venture & explore the Wonders and Beauty of Germany.
We reside in Budapest, Hungary - and "train it" to Erfurt via Vienna & Nuremberg - a delightful relaxing all up 8-hour train journey.
Wurzburg, the tram system - excellent.
Walking the city, the magnificent architecture, if as we fond of Baroque, you won't be disappointed, and "other" historical styles of architecture, the bridges - the river was "Aggressive" in running the day of our visit, will standing on the bridge - "smothered" - "surrounded" in statues of those recognised for their Deeds of Holiness - the views from the "Saintly" panoramic - Magnificent.
The ability to see vineyards - special when you visit cities, and from the "saintly" bridge - you do below the Castle in particular, get to see a "vibrant"- producing vineyard.
Splendid city to visit, clean, with wonderful variety of shops and eating places - that are all on flat walking plains, with the trams, always nearby, giving you, when it's time to venture further afield, we did - caught a tram, took a ride of 20 minutes or so, out into the "suburbs some-what, or back to the Hauptbahnhof - the trams are never distanced from you to "take a ride."
We "trained" it, our preferred " mode" of transport, from Erfurt approx. 2.20-minute journey.
Not being located on the High-Speed Line - ICE, the trip went through beautiful Thuringia and Bavarian countryside, autumn and tree foliage/forest mountainous Terrine, that the train, at times the gradients appeared quite elevated, then through numerous tunnels, it was BREAT-taking and Enjoyable.
Keats wrote of Autmn as a season of:
"Mists and Mellow fruitfulness."
THINK he got that RIGHT/

Wonderful and Joyous city - fascinating city to visit.

People come here all day, but if you can, come by sundown. That's when everyone comes with family and friends, and toast with a nice beer or a nice Silvaner. The atmosphere is great when this happens

Wonderful trip to wurzburg. Take the walking tour that you can arrange at the visitor bureau. When did the old bridge become pedestrian only?
