Loved this tour. Our guide was humorous and we learned a lot about the history of Rothenburg. Just show up at the Town Hall steps. No reservation requires. Pay cash at the end. I was able to hear no matter where we stood and we...More

Really a great experience. The nightwatchman is a great story teller, historian and performer. You will be equally educated and entertained. One of my favorite activities on our entire trip.

This tour is simply the most entertaining hour of medieval wonder anywhere in Germany. The Night Watchman – dressed in a medieval garb & carrying his Horn, Lantern & Hellebarde – takes his spellbound audience every evening from the Market square, down the Herngasse to...More

This is a terrific tour & well worth the hour. English tours are at 8pm, German at 9.30pm, nightly throughout the main season. The Nightwatchman (Hans Georg Baumgartner) has been doing it for 20 odd years & knows his Rothenburg history which he delivers with...More

I will admit I wasn't sure what to expect when a man dressed from the past stepped up to take this tour, but I really enjoyed it. From the very start the 'night watchman' shared bits of history and facts about the town in a...More

I was told by a local that the night watch tour was led by "a John Cleese" type chap. I'd disagree, he was more like Eric Idle. But regardless it was a great way to wind down a great day in Rothenberg. For only eight...More

It looks like tours are only Saturdays at eight thru March 11. Which means there would be a tour on March 4 and March 11.
