We then found the Christmas Museum (Weihnachtsmuseum), which is attached to and part of the Kathe Wohlfahrte Christmas store. Since the store was so big, we decided not to bother with the museum. You wouldn't believe the variety and sheer number of Christmas ornaments and...More

The museum told an interesting story of Christmas decorations (1/2 price out of season was very reasonable at €2.50 pp) and the shop was amazing (of course). Even my husband enjoyed it, it was well laid out with trees and genuine decorations of different eras...More

The Christmas museum and shop were very cool places to visit in Rothenburg. I didn’t enter the museum, but the shop was awesome. My friend visited the museum and loved the history! Merry Christmas!

German Christmas history with decorations is rich, long and is well exhibited in this museum. At the cash desk on the entrance to the museum you can take an interesting handbook "Christmas in the Ore Mountains" (with descriptions of Christmas decorations, folklore, events, recipes and...More

I learned of the origin of Christmas trees, decorations, candle/lights and Santa..they have a wonderful collection of decorations from the 1800 and 1900s. Old decorations made of cotton, glue, paper, lead and...More

basically the title says it all. This was the most thorough Christmas museum that I've ever seen and included the artifacts to back it up. It was fascinating to see it presented in a chronological order. And of course, when you're finished, youre in the...More

The Christmas museum and store are connected. That is convenient. I did expect more from the museum. It does give information on the first ornament, Christmas tree, nutcracker, etc...but I was underwhelmed with the displays.

Christmas trees first gained popularity in Germany and the German Christmas Museum will tell you all about its origins. The museum is upstairs with the shop on the main level. Both are good size. As a Christmas lover, this was a must see for me.

We paid the €4 as it was summertime and the city was busy. The museum was quiet though and we enjoyed seeing all the old decorations. It was enjoyable.
