Rothenburg must be experienced as you feel like you have stepped back in time. This is an amazing place with history all around you. We spent two nights and the town changes when the tour buses leave.

Rothenburg is the perfect little German town, that is the biggest non-secret going. Our experience was almost as if we visited two different places. It was crowded and very touristy by day, and a quiet, quaint town filled with charm by night. If you plan on visiting as a day trip from Frankfurt, etc, you do yourself a disservice and... More

A delightful old walled city with old gates. There is plenty to see, and we traveled along much of the wall around the city. The streets are full of shops. In March, it was not too touristy but, on the flip side, not everything was open. The Marktplatz was an open space and the wind howled through it. I would... More

Reminds me of Busch gardens (In the USA) with the pretty houses, red roof tops, German architecture and cobblestone roads. Simply lovely. Most everyone you talk to there is friendly and helpful. Avoid the tourism office though cause they are not friendly or helpful. Lots of shops everywhere. Get off the main streets and find some true hidden gems on... More

It's whole name is Rothenburg ob der Tauber is an excellent, well preserved old town. It is about 1.1 hour drive by car and really well worth the trip if you are in Nuremberg. We rented a car from Sixt which is 5 minutes minutes walk from the train station and glad we did. The Rothenburg old town is beautiful... More

The whole of the old town has amazing buildings. You can go on a tour with a watchman giving you interesting history of the place.

Yes, it's "Disneyland-ish", but it's still pretty darn awesome since it's not Disneyland. What absolutely beautiful town, almost surreal -like a fairytale, but not. We loved it. Only wish we had stayed longer. Not sure what it's like during summer, but it was great mid-week in the offseason.

Very interesting medieval town. I didn´t know it before, but thanks a Tripadvisor idea we have been there. It is very interesting town. Everything is after reconstruction maybe too perfect for me :). I miss only “own life” of the town a little bit. But we spent a great time there with our kids.

Walking this perfectly preserved medieval town is a must for anybody. Walk the town walls, go to the lookouts across the picturesque Tauber valley, and make sure to have good walking shoes for the cobblestone streets

It's almost like steeping back in time to visit this fascinating old city. You have to see the city walls and walk the old cobblestone streets. Remarkably well p[reserved town. The main square is often full of tourists but wander around and there is something of interest around every corner. If you are adventurous climb the tower. Plenty of souvenir... More
