Not to be missed

Amazing town. Yes, it's a little touristy, but still not to be missed. Easily the most preserved town I've ever visited

This is a small--and I do mean small--town that is authentic old Germany. You can walk and enjoy it in under an hour--and shop, too! We always resist purchasing items when we travel as we don't want to be lugging around more stuff, but my husband found a great watch for a very fair price, and my daughter, some Birkenstock's... There are what feels like miles upon miles of stores selling everything from swords, to fine meats and cheeses, to Christmas Ornaments. Don't buy anything you are not absolutely sure of, there is another store on the next block that has what you actually want. Lots of walking and LOTS of tourists.

We absolutely fell in love with Rothenburg. The old town is incredibly picturesque and although a lot of things were shut for the winter, we enjoyed spending several hours just walking around town.

We saw many similar towns along the Romantic Road but I think this is probably the best as very well preserved and pretty. It was early March when we visited and very quiet. I would imagine it would be very busy in the summer but the window boxes would be in full bloom so it would look amazing. It’s easy... More

The old town is very well restored to the original architectural style. Much of it was burned during WWII. Well worth a visit.

The town of Rothenburg is so picturesque! It is a well preserved medieval town with a lot of personalities of its own! Walking around town is like walking in the ancient time. The local fav pastry, "Snowball," is delicious! Perfect to munch on while wandering around. I recommend to start with the town hall, then the big cathedral behind (admission... More

Imagine an old German town as in stories and fairy tales, that's what Rothenburg actually looks like. There are old 15th century's streets and town walls to explore. There is a fair bit of tourist industry, and tourists. But don't be put off by this. It's well worth a visit!

I arrove by train to Rothenburg, and found 1 taxi waiting as I got off the train. No problems, not a big walk, so I joined the hundred or so other people arriving, walking into the city. Bizarre in some ways, but wonderful to get the first impression of this charming town. Cobble stone streets, beautifully presented buildings in generally... More
