Well presented and good to visit. Near centre of town, the last few yards being pedestrianised. Many displays of craftsmanship especially silver from 17th to 19th century. Covered courtyard with sculptures. Some stairs but with lifts. Smallish cafe and bookshop with many excellent reference books.

We knew that Augsburg was famous for their silver and Gold smiths working for all the Major European Courts and the exibitions prove the outstanding skills of These ancient craftsmen. Also the exibition of clocks and watches is impressive.

You can spend a couple of hours visiting the museum , there is more than enough English explanations for you to get a good understanding of the cultural history of Augsberg , well worth a visit

The Maximilianmuseum was far more than the pleasant morning's diversion I was expecting. From the moment one enters the beautiful 500 year old building, it's hard to find anything UNinteresting in sight. Even the doors and window latches are lovely. There are so many excellent...More

The central hall with the bronze statues is free of charge. Have a coffee break there beneath the excellent 500+ years statues. Good alternative to Rathaus square at bad weather.

From the title of the museum I assumed their would be a lot of history of Maximilian. There was some, however much of it was gorgeous furniture, statues, vessels and dishware from his era. Beautiful pieces and very interesting cultural historical items. Many rooms on...More

This museum was very interesting and contained mostly original bronze statues and busts. Some of these were in an enclosed courtyard and some in little rooms. Very unique. I cannot remember whether this attraction was free or not, but I do not remember paying anything....More

This is a small museum in a palace dated from 1500. Nice set up, you can learn a lot about the past of the city.
