As impressive as the ballroom is, I'm not sure EUR 7 is justified.
Overall Augsburg was completely overrated. Give it a skip.
Staff were friendly.

Having been fortunate to have traveled extensively worldwide, we are always impressed by what impresses. The Schaezlerpalais was not particularly spectacular but nonetheless impressive. At 7euro per person, a visit to this baroque palace was worth the 7euro fee if only to view its awesome ballroom. It is supposedly considered Germany's most artistically significant Rococo ballroom.

Well, this was quite the shocker to be honest. €7 to visit, they tell you to start at the 2nd floor and you see a huge array of wonderful paintings and some furniture, make your way down to the 1st floor for the same until you reach his wonderful decadent room! Wow just absolutely stunning, so worth a visit!

The paintings were nice, but what took out breath away was the big hall. The pictures make it seem smaller but in real life it was amazing! We only entered because we did everything we planned. (The peace festival was cancelled due corona.)

This palace is something to be seen.
From the outside you would not know what awaits you on the inside.
Ask for the audio guide or personal guide to get all the details about the palace and it’s rooms.

I agree with all the positive reviews and won't go further into describing the museum.
The palace rooms were delightful to see and nicely curated. The Deutsche Barockgalerie (German Baroque Gallery) features 17th and 18th century art work. There is practically no English information regarding the paintings, so I would suggest the Audio Guide for 3 euros and a refundable 10 euro deposit. It’s a bit long winded, but also has some humorous explanations such as the “lewd” collection of nude women paintings and Mozart’s reaction to the beautiful blue eyed woman painted by Tischbein. Without it you won’t learn anything about the collection. The Bavarian state collection with the Durer portrait of the Fuggers and Holbein’s paintings has informational plaques at each door in English/German to help explain the paintings, but the audio guide isn’t used, so if that’s all you want to see skip the audio guide. Of course don’t miss the palace of mirrors! It will knock your socks off!
Clean bathrooms, very small gift shop, café, lovely small outdoor garden and free lockers for backpacks/purses.

Called in to see the collection of German paintings but had the added delights of the architecture of the palace as well. The baroque section not as interesting as the other earlier works but some excellent portraits. The Cranach, Holbein, and Durer make it a must for lovers of these artists especially in conjunction with a visit to the Dom and St Annes Church where further examples of these artists can be seen

be warned that the outstanding paintings are at the very end of the exhibits so leave time for them. These are the Durers Holbeins etc in the Katerhine Church a separate building connected to the palace. The earlier rooms ontain other collections of well known old masters and works by painters born in Augsburg. Do not miss the Roccoco Ball room and the ceiling an ode in oils to the benefits of trade and globalisation that generated the wealth of Augsburg at that time
