The church itself is already quite impressive with its high ceiling(s) and the colourful windows, but when you go down to the crypta you are in for a real 'divine' treat. Take a closer look at the ancient Madonna and enjoy some quiet time close...More

Even though it's the Dom, and I spent some time to find it, it's not so impressive (only in size) when you compare it with the other churches in Augsburg.

Every church has a magical sense about it. The structure, the orgel, the pictures...etc. After walking around in it ....sit and take these wonders all in.

Free entrance to Dom. Walk slowly around inside and study windows and decorations. Go down to the ”crypt”. Outside is an excavation, read the explanatory signs. Do not compare this Dom with others, more well known. It has its beauty of its own.

Augsburg is a beautiful place which still embodies the life and architecture of the middle-ages when it was one of the most powerful kingdoms in Germany. This Cathedral is worth the visit since it is peaceful and not crowded and the architecture is exquisite.

Cathedral is a lovely place. Don't miss the cloister or seeing the Romanesque bronze doors (for a separate fee.) It would be very nice if there was better documentation either online or printed about the iconography of the doors in English. Outside the building you...More
