We always try to visit the bridge when we are in Regensburg - we are from Canada. The area around is exciting to be in - lots of shops - food places. Best of all is the view from the bridge looking at the town.

A really cool historic bridge, but is under construction. A separate walking bridge has been built beside the stone bridge, and the old bridge is mostly covered so you can't see it. A small portion has already been renovated and can be seen, but will...More

Currently being refurbished, the bridge gives access to some of the best views of Regensburg. It is well worth walking across it to take in the broader view. Loads of cafes etc on the other side!

It's a bummer, but it is under construction when we went there. So we just viewed it from the side instead of walking across. Walked underneath etc. I can understand that it's so old that this will happen from time to time.

Bad timing as the bridge is completely shrouded in scaffolding and netting while under renovation. We walked across and looked at it from both sides of the Danube, but was not the experience we had hoped for. The water is very high in the swift...More

The picture of the bridge is beautiful, however, if you are going there now you will find it being renovated. You can still pass over it but it does not look like the picture. Stop and look back at the town and you can get...More

You walk across this bridge to get from the newer part of the town into the old city. So stop and look over into the river as you cross. Admire the views of the Old City. And then stop and look back at this beautifully...More

Unfortunately the bridge was mostly covered by scaffolding and shade cloth for renovation work. The work when finished will give the same outward appearance of the original bridge, but for longevity and engineering new materials i.e. concrete and steel will be used behind the sandstone....More

We could not walk on it because it was under renovation . They had another temporary bridge next to it. We walked on that new structure to the other end of bridge. A pity

Covered in scaffolding and tarpaulins when we visited so unable to see it but I guess it will be beautiful when restored, though the edge we could see looked a bit like concrete not stone! Can't believe they'd be allowed to do that!!

Yes, the Old Stone Bridge is still under construction. It is a long project yet still not done. It will be the same in July when you come through.
