Interesting your if Princess Gloria castle right in Regensburg. Lots of old sculptures, a modern painting... you need to guess what this fried egg look a like flag is. The tomb is creepy. If you are in the city take a couple of hours to look round. Will nit spoil it by telling you everything.

The palace was built by one family that rose to prominence (and wealth) by starting a postal service in the early 16 hundreds. In the mid 17 hundreds, the family moved to Regensburg, bringing prosperity and building the palace. You might be forgiven to think that this is a royal family given views of the Treasure Chamber and what looks... More

Starting in Budapest and sailing up the Danube River or "Donau" we had the unique opportunity to visit many of the Christmas markets Hungary, Austria and German Bavaria have to offer. The markets kept getting better until we arrived in Regensberg. The "alstadt" or old city market was very good but we also wanted to see the market at the... More

If you can avoid going here on the weekend you'll be a lot happier. The Christmas market is extremely popular and the only market where you pay a fee to go inside. It is a beautiful but crowded setting.

The Christmas market at the Thurn und Taxis Palace is the most traditional of Christmas markets as you are likely to find in Germany. Over the last 10 years I've been to a lot of Christmas markets and, along with the middle ages market at Ronneburg Castle, this market is among the very best! The market takes over the some... More

We did a 90 minute tour of the palace museum which basically covered the history of the Thurn and Taxis family. Very interesting history, but the tour felt too long -- just one ornate room after another. The Christmas market on the other hand was one of the nicer ones we visited on the one week Viking Danube River cruise... More

The romantic Christmas market at Thurn und Taxis Palace is just a short walk from the centre of town, there was a short but slow moving queue to pay our weekday admission of €6.50. Once inside the palace grounds the market is impressive. The goods on sale are of good quality and a little different from the usual run of... More

We visited the Xmas market at Thurn und Taxis Palace. Was very impressed and not surprised that there is an entrance fee - definitely worth paying for. Magical setting and beautifully laid out. Lovely touches like fire pits to keep warm and quality produce. This is the best market we have been to in Europe. Would highly recommend especially around... More

The exterior is nice, but the interior is in keeping with a palace of imperial importance. Our tour was outstanding explaining the history of the palace and those who lived here and visited here from emperors to popes. No photography is permitted inside.

After seeing a number of Christmas markets, this is decidedly my favorite. The atmosphere is magical. The markets weave all around the Palace, which adds an appeal in itself. There are lots of booths with different foods, and stands or tables to eat. There are booths selling everything imaginable, in a rustic setting. There are even a couple animals for... More
