We went to the Regensburg tourist office and got tickets for a 2:00 PM English tour of the Rathaus the next day. The Rathaus was first constructed around 1270 AD and was the local seat of government. The interesting guided tour went to 3 meeting rooms, the dungeon and the torture chamber.

Definitely a 'Best Value' tour (in English) with a knowledgeable guide. The best part was the prison!

The Old Town Hall of Regensburg of a mustard colour and was built on the central market square during the 13th century.

This structure has the town hall’s tower an adjacent palace, as well as the Gothic imperial hall and the Baroque town hall.

The Regensburg’s tourist information office is now located on the ground floor.

The interesting imperial hall offers tours and was previously an interrogation room and a torture chamber.

Only saw the outside but our guide said that you can tour the inside of the builiding.
Rathaus was the city hall and has a large clock tower that is visible from many locations.

The old city hall and its connecting buildings is a must see on any city tour of Regensburg. The clock tower alone stands out above many of the other town structures and the detail on the balconies and windows really is amazing. If you have time/energy, a trip to the top of the bell tower provides great views of the city and definitely worth the effort.

Visited this place primarily to climb the short tower and see the view from upstairs. Was worth the visit as you can get a scenic view from all four sides of the tower via the four windows that are openable. Just be sure to close them after you're done. The machinery controlling the tower clocks is also on display in the tower.

Very interesting tour with animated and informative tour guide. Unfortunately my wife and daughter who do not speak German were disappointed by the English audio guide. So maybe do some research and find the schedule for the English tours.

Any of the better tours of the area will include this location and others. This area is worth walking through to really take it all in.

Every corner of this historic Roman city seems to present the most casual walkers with another photo opportunity and the Old Town Hall is one of these, a few hundred metres from the remains of the Roman gateway. It is actually three buildings; the tower, the palace and baroque town hall. The museum inside is well worth a visit and, for the gloomy minded the torture chambers in the basement are chilling (indeed quite cold too!)

This important and imposing building has been central to the history of this riverside town for centuries. It still draws visitors to this day.
