We were "castled" out by this time on our trip and wanted something different to see. This is a lovely old cemetery that is still in use today. We were surprised at how well kept each plot was with most having fresh flower pots on them. I don't know if it's typical in Germany to have raised plots but in... More

Unlike any other cemetery, this is not only best known, and most beautiful in Nuremberg, it is outstanding with beautiful flowers on top of stone grave stones. It's worth seeing, if you can spare a little time from your city tours

If you're in the area or even if you're not this is well worth a look. It's free to walk in and there are a few pretty buildings and flowers everywhere. They have gardeners watering the flowers left on the graves and I guess adding more to the cemetery, it's really the prettiest cemetery I have seen anywhere. It's relatively... More

I love visiting old cemetaries and this one reminds me of the ones I've seen in New Orleans but even older. It's a short walk along the river and one turn up a street. It's peaceful and the chapel inside the cemetary was beautiful. I spent 90 minutes just walking all around. Some of the famous graves are marked with... More

Walking through this cemetery you will see very old headstones- some ornate and others relatively simple- along with some newer ones. It is very peaceful and people lovingly place flowers and mementos on the graves. There is a beautiful small church at the center of the grounds. Albrecht Durer is buried here, along with some other notable people.

Perhaps we are quirky but we have visited quite a few cemeteries on our travels. When our Nuremberg tour guide recommended the Johannisfriedhof and we saw it had been rated Germany's most beautiful cemetery we had to go and look. The walk from the old town is not far - you can walk along the river a short way after... More

A most beautiful city cemetery. Very serene especially as it has busy roads passing by. never have I seen such a well kept cemetery. The majority of the graves have flowers or shrubs on. Well worth a visit.
