Nuremberg as several beautiful churches and given that 90 % of the Old Town was taken out by the Allies in WW2 it is astonishing to find them in the condition we get to see today. Step in to enjoy : )

It's a beautiful church from the exterior. It was not open when I was there. It is located in Marktplatz which used to be the location of the local synagogue until the Jews were incorrectly blamed for a plague epidemic in the 14th Century. Some historians believe the Frauenkirche was built as penance for the anti-semitic violence.

Fantastic church to visit we did like it a little more than St Lorenz. It sits on the edge of the market and is worth the stop

Nice and spiky church placed directly on a big square. Although we couldn't get inside it was quite a view from outside also.

This church can be located from a good distance due to it's amazing heights which adds further to it's beauty.

This was on our walking tour through old town. It is right on a large square and is an impressive clock. Unfortunately for some reason the moveable parts did not move at noon like they were supposed to. Good places to sit and get something to eat or drink around the square.

A fine brick gothic cathedral watching over the main market square of the city. While the front facade is realtively unadorned it has two notable features: the balcony where the Christmas market is apparently declared open each year and the fine mechanical clock. Try and be there at midday to hear it. Not as grandiose as similar mechanisms in Munich and Prague but definitely fun.

In walking around Nuremberg's Old Town, this is a distinctive landmark church at the Hauptmarkt. The Beautiful Fountain is also close by.

The Frauenkirche church is a beautiful place, in a fun area of old town. There are many interesting facts that we learned about this church. There is a large plaza outside and the inside of the church is very beautiful. I would say that if you get the chance, go to this area to visit!

The thing that struck me about Frauenkirche was how light and open the church felt. Historically, gothic architecture always appears heavy and weighty...but with the clear windows, Frauenkirche really does "shine". It's "simple" in comparison to some other gothic churches, but the artwork above the altar and around the naive add a wonderful simple, elegant touch. Definitely worth a quick pop in to view.
