The first townwalls were built in 13th century, later they were confirmed several times. They surround the Old Town. They are almost 5kms long and 7-8ms high and they have about 100 bastion towers. Walking along them is very romantic, we enjoyed it very much. You need comfty shoes, but it’s worth, because the view is magnificient. It’s a must-see site.

There are some cool Remnants of the city walls, towers, dry moat, and other fortification elements. They are definitely worth checking out.

During nice weather, we saw lots of people out and about amongst the old town walls, just a fun thing to do like the locals do.

Our guide took us to several places where we were able to see the walls that were still surviving from protecting from medieval times. Some of the spots that had been destroyed in the past were rebuilt in the original form. Definitely an impressive display of history.

The walls were closed for walking along when I was there. Very little information online as to when you can walk the city walls of Nuremberg. They are open from 1st April to 31st October from 8am to 8pm (according to the sign at one of the entrances)

They look impressive from the outside and returning to walk the walls is my excuse for wanting to go back to Nuremberg

The Nuremberg city walls are the medieval defensive mechanism and surrounds the old city of Nuremberg. They are in excellent condition and pleasing that it has been preserved for future generations.

These walls were utilised from the 12th Century until the 16th Century.

Worth visiting when in Nureberg.

We use these walls to help us find our way around town. If you stay on the inside of them you know you are never far from square, park or something within the beautiful old city centre.

They aren’t as imposing us some city walls but certainly is beautiful. Quite low and there is a passage at the top for people to walk through.

Unfortunately, we could never find a way up to them so I had to have my them from ground level.
