As you stand here - admiring classic facades in the heart of medieval Munich - recall that everything around you was flattened in World War II. Here on Platz, reconstruction happened in stages from 1945 to 2000.

Platz is small but absolutely adorable place. Note the big beautiful house with green ivy over (restaurant at first floor). This building was completely destroyed during the war and then completely restored. Today's Platz hosts a lively mix of places to eat and drink - chains like Starbucks and Hard Rock Cafe alongside local spots like Schuhbecks Eissalon, a favorite for ice cream. And of course, if you are looking for famous Hofbrauhaus (huge old historic beer-garden restaurant with 5000 seats inside and outside) is here on Platz. Lenin, Hitler, Mozart and other famous people have been here.

In the evening there is music from street musicians, frozen live figures and many people sitting in street cafes.

This is a very lively square and the buildings looked old and historical. The famous Hofbrauhuas and Hard Rock Cafe are also, so the area has a lot of people, especially tourists.

This is a kind of historic district with retail, restaurants and entertainment. The main feature is the Hofbrauhaus but there are several other draws including Ayingers Wirtshaus where we ate. The is also a number of specialty retail in the area including a Bayern Munchen soccer store where my son bought a shirt.

I love sitting outside on a nice day for lunch and people watch. The food is good and the bier is cold, what more do I want.

Platzl is the center of Medieval Munich. It was nice to walk around the area, the architecture is the primary attraction for me, but I can't say that I would go out of my way to see it.

The hotel has nice, good sized rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything happened when staff said it would happen.
The breakfast that comes with the room was awesome. So many choices that I could have different things every one of four mornings and not have any repeats.

Platzl is a small public square at the end of Orlandostraße where you find the world famous 16th-century beerhall, Hofbräuhaus. Other restaurants with alfresco dining and retail shops, including quite a few Schubeck shops, fill in the tightly compacted townhouses at Platzl.

Overall, Platz is a nice little place to spend a few minutes viewing the attractive buildings in the area and having a beer or two at Hofbräuhaus.
