I do love Michael Jackson's music, and we came across the memorial. No one seems to know how or why this memorial happened on top of another guy...

Today, the statue honoring Orlando di Lasso serves as a memorial to Michael Jackson. It has been decorated by Michael Jackson's fans with posters, flowers, and grave lights since his death in 2009. Michael Jackson stayed at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof next to the statue several times.
Orlando di Lasso is considered one of the most important composers of the High Renaissance. The composer lived in Munich until his death in 1594.

discovered this odd memorial that has taken over an old statue. Lots of tributes and message with old photographes of the late star.

Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich is the landmark to see the Michael Jackson Memorial because it is just in a park at the from of this hotel, Michael favorite hotel in Munich.

This is by far one of the oddes memorials I've seen in Munich. This is supposed to be a monument to the late Renaissance composer, Orlande de Lassus. The residents of Munich have commandeered this monument and turn it into a memorial to the late great Peter Pan of pop, Michael Jackson. Fans of the pop star have laid down many tributes of flowers, photos and other MJ memorabilia.

It was surprisingly well-maintained, pictures and notes were laminated, flowers were fresh, Munich residents must really love MJ. It was cute, I woudlnt make a specail trip for it, but it's near other things of interest so why not see it!

Fell upon this one by accident. Really weird memorial space to MJ in the middle of Munich. It was one of those weird things you come across sometimes as you travel. Don't go out of your way to find it cause it's not much to see unless you happen to be in that part of Munich and are crazy about his music. I'd rather have found a statue to Freddie Mercury.

While walking around Munich we came across this old statue that was adorned by pictures of and tributes to Michael Jackson. It was interesting to look at, and surprising that the city allowed it to stay and become a tourist attraction. This would be of more interest to a fan.

I never knew the Munich people were so in to Michael Jackson but I think it’s cool that they take the time and money to keep this memorial looking nice. MJ was a great singer and performer and was gone too quickly. Glad to see that in Munich he lives on.
