Great run in the English gardens

If you are a runner and are in Munich, find a map and go run here. Well worth it and isn't as far away as you think. Cool, tree lined paths make for a great early morning run!

If you like the Hof Brauhaus then the English Garden will also be right up your alley. A bit more serene than the Haus, but its outdoor charms are stunning. Beer is the main attraction, but food is always available and music occasionally. On a beautiful Munich spring day not much more could be asked for. Study up on the... More

I love the English Garden. It's such a beautiful place to walk through on a sunny day and also provides some great running routes.

Great park and beer garden near to the Chinese Tower (Chinesischer Turm). Good music. Plan to go back and see if there is anyone surfing at the Eisbach at the southern end of the garden. We learned of this "phenomenon" after visiting. Who would have imagined surfers in the center of a large city?!

A trip to Munich is not complete until you have taken a stroll through the English Gardens. From surfing waves to large beers gardens to nudist areas, this place has it all. Much more alive in Summer with people floating/surfing the river (Eisbach - literally 'Ice Creek'), kicking the footy and just getting naked, winter has its appeal too. Around... More

Take your time and walk around, you shouldn't miss the surfing area, where local surfers use a natural occurrence in the river that creates a wave, Excellent. Get a beer in one of the beer gardens too.

A lovely garden to wander about in, especially in the summer. We went on two sunny afternoons and were delighted to watch people 'surfing' in the river, below two different bridges, in very fast-flowing water. It was marvellous to watch and video! Lovely to see whole families out enjoying themselves in the park. Groups of young people were playing games,... More

Relaxing but there is not much to do there, especially if you visit towards the end of Summer (relatively chilly weather) where there is not much colouring of the tree leaves and activities going on.

One of the green lungs of the city. Really worth a visit, and not only because of the surfing on the river or the biergarten!

This place is absolutely beautiful, and very easy to walk around. It is impossible to get lost. Go on the weekend when the weather is fine and enjoy the crowds of people (don't worry, the crowds aren't too big) that accompany you.
