Part of the Residenz museum, this mini theatre seats 650, and was used by royalty. It is lavish, ornate and grand, worth the small entrance fee.

Its a beautiful theater, reconstructed to give today's visitor a glimpse into the opulence of the past. Its definitely worth a visit. There's also another gallery of beauties outside this theater. Best to buy the combined ticket for the Residenz + Treasury + Theater. If you have bought a multi day transport pass, you also get a discount on your... More

Go if you buy the combo ticket for all three residenz attractions but there isn't much there, so don't spend 3.5 euros. Worth experiencing some music there though if you get the chance.

Beautiful place, nice foyer and theater. Went there for a quartet performance, which was awesome. Arrive early to check your place correctly. It's kinda tricky find your chair in the lodges. It's also hard to find the place using google maps, once they have different theaters one close to each other.

We visited in December 2014 and were the only people in the theater during our visit. It doesn't take long to stop in and have a look around. Entrance fee is included in your Residenz ticket, but hours are different so check before you go.

First the theater. It was destroyed during the bombing raids of the Second World War, but the interior had been removed and was reinstalled in the reconstructed building. So, what you see is mostly what was there before. Up close, the original hall decorations are surprisingly crude. Still, it is a cozy venue with few bad seats. The performance we... More

Beautiful example of rococo style, built in the 18th century. It is worth to add the visit to the theater if your are going to the Residenz or the Treasury but I would not make it all the way to this area of Munich just to visit the Theater.

We only went here on a day visit and didn't see any performances, but just the experience of seeing this totally elaborate, gold and red rococo theatre is a must see site. Even the curtains are carved and gilded wood. Just a feast for the eyes, and a window into the wealth and power of the Wittlesbach family. Gorgeous, gorgeous!

Golden decoration and red seats. Absolutely gorgeus. Most probably one of the nicest rococo theater on the world. And it has a very good acustics too!
