About
Look down at Munich from a height of 190 metres. Here you have the best views as far as the Alps. At a speed of 7 m/s you soon get nearer to heaven. The view of Munich, its surroundings and, if the weather is good, the Alps from the Salzkammergut to the Allgäu Alps is just as unique as the Olympic tower itself. Up here on one of the highest towers in Europe you can get away from the bustle of the city. Take a deep breath, forget everything and then relax. From the viewing platforms of the tower at a height of 190 metres, the shiny silver tent roof silhouette of the Olympic park is a brilliant example of exceptional architecture. At a height of 291.28 metres, the most characteristic symbol of Munich is three times higher than the spires of the Frauenkirche church. Since being opened on 22.2.1968, this huge tower with a weight of 52,500 tonnes has withstood every single storm.

Fantastic 360 degree view of the city, particularly the adjacent Olympiapark, Olympiastadion and BMW Welt. Cheap entry; elevator takes just a few seconds to get to the top and then there’s plenty of space up there even if it’s busy. We got there via a short Uber ride (15-20 mins) out of the centre, and very glad that we did before leaving Munich. Can be very windy at the top though, so wrap up warm!

This was a great experience, viewing Munich from a height of almost 200 metres. The views of the city were stunning, with only the rain and cloudy weather preventing us from being able to view the Alps across the landscape. I would highly recommend this to those not afraid of heights, with a keen eye for breathtaking snapshots!

great views of the city from the park itself. surprisingly even though the weather was fantastic, the view was not impacted by any haze. there is a virtual reality section which i missed as it was closing by the time we where there
I would suggest that you buy refreshments before you go as €5 for a coffee (small) is too much even as a tourist

Absolutely incredible views from the top - technically three different views as you can look out from inside, from outside, and then from the top tier which has unobstructed views. On a clear day the views are impressive. Only reason it's not 5/5 is that it's a bit pricey compared to attractions in the city center.

We managed to reach the top of the tower just before a thunderstorm hit Munich. Before the storm, the views of the surrounding Olympic Park were amazing - gazing down into the stadium and around at the rest of the park.
The main problem is that the park is so far out from the rest of the city that buildings are just specks in the distance and blur into one. We could just about see the Alps, but needed a much clearer day to get a proper picture of the surrounds.
There is little in the way of information panels to tell you what you can see and it was a little underwhelming for the price. One good aspect is being able to stand outside and take in the view - something missing from a lot of such towers where you are stuck behind glass.

I really wanted to go up to the tower... Let's say that I thought the price would be lower because anyway once you go up there and take a walk around to see the various perspectives from above that's all you do.
Upstairs there is also a revolving restaurant (panoramic) and a bar with not low prices.
An internal elevator takes you to the top in a few seconds, making you feel the movement in your stomach... But no big deal.
The windows overlooking the city have indications of what can be seen in each direction. Some windows were a little damaged by time and therefore did not allow a good view of the panorama.
At the base of the tower there is also a souvenir shop

For €13 entry, you can take the elevator up to the Olympic Tower at 7m per second. Once at the top you have 3 different floors. An indoor one with labels about what you can see where, one above the open air with a fence and one at the top. From everywhere you have a wonderful view over the whole of Munich and even as far as the mountains (depending on the weather). The staff is also friendly & helpful. We had a great time there and can only recommend it for a visit to Munich :)!!!

For 13 euros you can go up the tower and enjoy the view. Everything is well signposted, the staff are friendly and reserved. There are also a few interactive games and a bar. Conclusion: quite nice but not a "must have"

Went up here on a visit to the Olympic park. Bit expensive, but has great views of the city. Unlike a lot of towers, you can go outside. There is a central area away from the edge where the barrier is low for good photos with no barriers of glass in.

Thoroughly enjoyed this experience with teenager. Great view and interesting history. Good value for money and passed an hour whilst visiting the park. You get a discount at the BMW museum if you show your ticket for the tower.

What time of day is best to visit? I was planning on reaching by 9pm as I'm reaching late and no other church or museum will be open that late.

In December 2018, I visited the Olympic Tower in the early afternoon. There was little or no queue. I don't know at what time the Olympic Tower closes.

Can you get a beer at the top?
Written 27 April 2018
There's a full-service restaurant at the top that's very nice. If you get off the elevator before the restaurant level at the observation deck, there are beer taps.
