One of Munich's biggest and oldest food markets and located down past the end of Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt is open 6 days a week and only closed on Sunday's. This is not a flea market and is primarily food, wine and condiments. A great place to stop for breakfast or lunch or to buy some quality fruit, cheeses and wine.

Viktualienmarkt literally means food market and that's what it is: Munich's biggest fresh food market. The quality is outstanding here, products are mainly regional, but there are also exotic fruits from all over the world Prices are therefore relatively high. Definetely worth a stroll any time and one of my favourite aplaces in Munich. Can easily be reached in a... More

Its a very good market with a lot of fresh produce and food options, love the fact that in the middle of the Market is a beer garden and that you, eat anything you buy at the market as long as you buy a drink.

If you are looking for colorful veggies of all kind yu will find them here. Normal things and lots of exotics also. Local products, a Biergarten and several eateries. Come there and take tons of pictures.

Whether visiting the Christmas Market, or at some other time of the year, detour to the nearby Viktualienmarkt, a fresh food market in this location since the early 1800s. About 150 stalls sell all manner of fresh produce, food and floral, plus there are places to sit and eat and drink, while absorbing the surroundings.

Every time we come to Munich, the first place we visit is here. There is always a buzz around here, even in winter. On this New Year's Eve there are lots of tourists around and the atmosphere was warm although weather cold. You can always get a cup of Glühwein or Soup to warm up.

We went there during Christmas season. The atmosphere was really nice and we could access to typical kinds of German dishes with fair prices. Also there was one amazing place where you can enjoy delicious soups, which will save your life especially in cold winter! Also you can reach nearby Christmas market in Marienplatz. Worth visiting!

This is a really neat market right in the heart of Munich. Here you can find all sorts of food including baked goods, coffees, tea's, desserts as well as lunch and dinner items. There are benches and tables and lots of people watching.

Having heard about this famous food market, we were not disappointed. This is not a place designed for tourists but for locals to buy their meat, fruit and vegetables and as such it is really interesting to just wander around looking at the variety of local produce displayed temptingly. The display of truffles (the fungi ones, not the sweets!) was... More
