1936 was the last time the summer and winter olympics were both held in the same year in the same country. This is where it all started off with the Summer Olympics being held in Berlin later in the year. Fascinating to be able to...More

Not a ton to see or do, but it’s historic. Old stadium, ski jump, but also a Bier garten. Walk the trail by the river. Plenty of parking.

It's good to see a real ski jump. If you are lucky you can catch some practice sessions even in summer. The stadium is a great structure historically of the 1936 games. There is a small museum with a current display about the 1936 propaganda...More

The stadium itself is not much to see nor is there much information about the place. That said it was a Sunday and quite crowded We did find some excellent challenging hikes using this location as our base ....

Interesting to see the stadium from 1932, but with the new ski jumping arena. We normally watch on TV the traditional New Year Ski Jumping competition, and do not really understand that they really can take that much spectators on the stadium.

There wasn't much here when we went, but the massive ski ramp was very impressive. Maybe there's normally a small museum or it's better maintained in peak, but we were there at christmas and it was overgrown and there was nothing to see.

Scene of the 1936 Winter Olympics. You can still feel the nationalism in the stadium even though those traces of the past have been removed. Also the setting for the Eddie the Eagle film.

We were staying in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and I was out for a walk and saw the stadium. It is actively used for hockey. There was no place to access the stadium, but I did find a diagram (with German labels) that showed the various parts of...More

Yes. It is easily done. The gorge is about 30 mins walk from the stadium. Or take the horse carriage for a fee.

Yes stadium is open daily, the restaurant there has hours that change with the seasons. And outdoor events are held there from time to time. Google Garmisch to see if any events will be during your visit.
