I went to see Alpspitz with friends on a recent trip to Garmisch when Zugspitze was too socked in to see the view. Initially we all felt like we were settling but our outlook completely changed once were on top. The views were breathtaking, especially from the metal grate catwalks that let you walk out over the abyss! If you're... More

If you want to spend some time in Alpes, hike on a different paths, use 3 different cable cars, you should select this option. Paths from the summit are of different difficulty - most popular can be taken by people with children buggies :) Highly recommended experience.

Used the cog railway from GaP and did the triangular trip of up one cable car, down to the next and then walk to the third. This place is not quite so high as next-door Zugspitze but benefits from that by having less cloud, fewer crowds and places to walk around. Spent most of the morning watching the Paragliders take... I added a review of Alpspitz under Zugspitze as I could not find Alpspitz as an attraction. We visited Alpspitze by riding the cable car up to Alpspix observation deck and then hiked down to Kreuzeck cable car which is about 1/3 down the mountain and then rode the cable car back down the mountain to where our car is... We went there on the first weekend of July, as we were attending the BMW Mottorad days, which is free to get into and if you go to the tourist info desk there, you will get a 12 euro discount (you will have to wait until next year now, for that). Lovely destination that has a station for the zugspitze... More

Take the cable car up and after seeing the amazing views(there are scary but safe platforms you can walk out on) eat at the delicious restaurant with beautiful outside eating areas. Then enjoy a nice hike yo then take a different cable car down.

If you see the Zugspitze, by the 2-peak ticket! We went on the 9:15AM train and saw this, had lunch and a short walk around the Eibsee then ascended the Alpspitze around 2pm! It takes a bit of time planning, but was a thrill! We then hiked down the Garmisch Classic trail (Takes about 1.5 hours) down to the Kreuzeck... More

When in Garmisch, you must visit the Alpspitz. I am usually not a fan of heights but the ride up the mountain was a breeze. We had two children age 1 and 4 with us and they did great. This place is majestic!
