Buy a multi-day ticket at the ZupspitzeBahn in Garmisch. Ski Garmisch Classic day one then, on day 2, take the (Cog) train from Garmisch all the way to the top of the Zupspitze. Your ski ticket is also your train ticket. At the top you can rent ski equipment. Not much more than renting in town, On 12/27/16 we did... More

Tickets are expensive and went we got to the top, could not see a thing. Yes, that's the risk you take and we went knowing of the risk but knew there was a possibility we would not be back. The ride up was an experience and even more so on the way down when we went through a storm and... More

The 'Top of Germany' certainly is impressive with visibility of 250km+ from the 2962m summit. Absolutely incredible views from the cable car over mountains and clouds and fantastic scenery. Only downside is the time to get there. The Eibsee cable car carries 38 at a time and takes 10 mins from base to summit, but with queues of hundreds it... More

The ascent of the Zugspitze is a must-do for most visitors to this area. It is not a 'cheap attraction, by any means, but with some degree of advance planning it does not have to be overly expensive. The Zugspitze Gold Card, available through multiple sites (we bought ours at the Wank Mountain cable car station) allows you to summit... More

We went up from the Austrian side and even though I am petrified of heights I felt at ease on the funicular as the personal in charge was extremely patient with my anxiety and panic attacks. Once up on top we found out how bad the weather was however we managed to play with snow on the terrace area. The... More

A family of 4 going on the gondola up to the summit and around came down on the train that cost was 120 for the day. Free parking was nice. The buffet lunch at the cafe was a bit pricey but great food and helpful staff, constantly assisting and cleaning. Had a really good time and the ability to rent... More

There are several ways to get to the top of Germany. We took a cable car from Ehrwald in Austria which is 30 mins driving from Garmish-Partenkirchen. Alternatively you can go up from Garmish via an older cable car and I believe they are building a new one. The ride is pricey, about 42 € per person, and dogs are... More

Wonderful Christmas Day spent on the slopes despite blizzard conditions. Food, drink, toilets, gear hire for skiing & sledging all fantastic. Wonderful views & sense of joy in everyone enjoying the amazing surroundings.

The ride up will cost you, but you must see it at least once in your life. The view on clear days is amazing. You can even bring your pet dog.
