Tucked away in this charming village of a thousand violins is this beautiful museum highlighting the rich history of their string instruments heritage. Please be advised that this museum only accepts cash.

Who would've guessed that the little town of Mittenwald was a center of violin making for centuries? This little museum chronicles the development of Mittenwald as an instrument-making town. It also provides interesting information about the process of string-instrument making. Highly recommended!

What a great find! The history of violin making in the region is outlined in an interactive fashion. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful as well. I am glad we included this stop on our trip!
