You must see this for curiosity if for no other reason. It takes a bit of time due to crowds and transportation to arrive at the base of the EN. The ride in the elevator and tunnel are the only surviving true experiences. While the actual house at the top is still in existence you must use your imagination due... More

Went on a weekday in late May and got to the bus staging area at 9:50 with a 45 minute wait for the next bus. By noon the wait was 90 minutes. I suggest getting there by 9:00 or even earlier. Crowds everywhere, including being jammed like sardines in the elevator up he last 450 feet to the top. The... More

As a History enthusiast I was very excited to visit the Eagles Nest. You have to drive up to the bus stop and buy tickets, reserve you time back and when you do, give yourself enough time to site see, eat at the restaurant up there and come down from the top. All and all I'd say we spent about... More

Superb (and crowded) place, views from the top (and going even higher) are unique, as well as the history of the place. Also the Dokumentation in Obersalzberg (with the remains of the bunkers) are superb

We did this a day trip from Salzburg. At the bus stop in front of H&M near Salzburg train station, bus 840 leaves every hour to Bertesgadener. You can buy return tix on the bus for €10. Journey is abt 40min. Then we transfer to bus 838 (€2.60?) which is another 20min to the Dokumentation Centre for the shuttle to... More

After views at Berchtesgaden didn't think it could get better; it did. Great place for pictures, though most cameras can't do it justice. Still snow when we were there but not particularly cold (and I'm from Florida). We had about thirty minutes of fantastic viewing weather then the clouds closed in and completely fogged us in. Nice little restaurant in... More

Park your car in the lot and follow the signs to the ticket booth and bus. Bus leaves every 25 minutes. It takes 20 from the bus lot to the tunnel to catch the elevator to the Eagles Nest Building. Once up on the mountain top, the vistas are amazing. The Cross had snow all around the ground area, so... More

We went over there on a Saturday and the place was packed with tourists. But once you get of the bus on the plateau the view is breathtaking. From the bus station u have two options: either you go into the tunnel and then take the elevator or you take the road and go up the mountain. The elevator has... More

Accessible by bus from Obersalzberg Documentation center or by foot on walking path (cca 3 hours). Visit by good weather because if it's cloudy you will see nothing from the mountain.

We found it very interesting and a great thing to do on a rainy day, I am told you can see much further when it's clear though. We did the self audio tour and it was ok but I would do the live tour if I had to do over. It's chili so dress warm.
