Konigsee is a natural alpine lake located just south of the town of Berchtesgaden, Germany. This town is in Bavaria and is about 100 miles southeast of Munich and about 17 miles south of Salzburg, Austria. It is easy to visit from Salzburg as a bus runs from the center of Salzburg to the Berchtesgaden train station. From the train... More

Breathtaking - just go! We took the boat tour - it offers incredible views; at a certain location the captain stopped and the guide prepared himself to sing on the trumpet - you can hear the echo very clearly...it's something that you can experience lively. Highly recommend.

We caught the 1.05pm ferry to St Bartholoma, a church a few kilometres along the lake. This was as far as the ferry goes in the Winter months. Each ferry is electric powered and has a guide on board. The commentary was in German only and the guide was looking for tips. Views were quite spectacular (but I tended to... More

The cobble stone walk to the lakes edge is lined with shop that cater for a small tourst trade. The lake is nstled between steep mountains. Nice scenery. We did not have time to catch the lake ferry. If you have timd it is worth the trip especially if you have not been to alpine lakes before

The deeper into the valley you travel, the better the view. The bonus of having a short trumpet tune played for the echo is a great feature; however, the trumpeter walking to you expecting a tip is a major turnoff to me. Tips should not be demanded/expected for what is part of the excursion.

We visited on a sunny, warm afternoon. We first took pics from the peak of Jennerbahn, then walked over to take a boat ride on the Konigssee. We felt the boat ride was too long, but the views were beautiful.

It was a very relaxing and wonderful boat trip, as well as very nice stroll on the shore. We didn't not download the app for English audio guide, but still enjoyed the whole trip. The trumpet performance on the boat trip and listening to the echoes from the mountains was truly magical and totally worthwhile. The shore we arrived by... More

We hired a car and spent the day in the area - the very helpful lady in the visitor at the car park advised us to come back later in the day as the fog would have lifted. We were rewarded with a spectacular afternoon trip up the lake - sunshine, shadows, snow on the mountains, everything you could wish... More

As others have said, it can get crowded and you may have to wait in line for a boat for the return trip. That said, it was a beautiful tour around the lake, and we enjoyed walking around St. Bartholomew. We also stayed for lunch there before heading back. To get there, we used the regional bus from Berchtesgaden (free... More
