Our touring group saw a 20-minute introductory film. Heart wrenching, for sure. The story is told by those who actually lived through these awful times. Hard to believe Hitler had so many devoted followers. I learned so much. Our very informed leader in the center...More

We decided to stop by after going to Eagle's Nest. We mainly wanted to see the bunkers. Lots of history, which was overwhelming at times. What I noticed when touring the bunkers is the graffiti from tourists. Very sad and disappointing. I wish Germany would...More

If you're in the area - then this must be visited. If nothing else, it is the clear unpolished truth of the rise to power of Hitler & the Nazi party - and it's fall. If you cannot understand German fluently, I would recommend obtaining...More

1) museum at the "Eagles Nest" site, high in the mountain peak 2) documents relevant history including construction and usage relating to Adolf Hitler 3) careful history which respects the tragedy of war

Dreadful shuffle around flat, uninspiring, printed displays. Contextual Holocaust section is rightly shocking and thought provoking. Eagles Nest coverage is scant.

This is a very good museum about the NS History of the area and in general, all signage is in German so you need to spend the extra 2e for an audioguide if you don't speak / understand German, but the language on the signs...More

It's hard to go round because it deals, unflinchingly, with the rise of Hitler and the subsequent appalling crimes perpetrated by the Nazi regimes. It's worth getting an audio guide as there is very little in English. I guess because Germans are the main target...More

We had a fascinating visit to this museum. Thanks to TripAdvisor reviews, we decided to skip the Eagle's Nest and rather to focus on this museum. It was well worth a visit. A chilling story focussing on how Hitler and his henchmen took over this...More

The Documentation Obersalzberg is located a couple of miles east of the town of Berchtesgaden on highway 319. The bus stop up to the Eagles Nest is next to the Documentation Obersalzberg.

I'm sorry I don't know. If you enter the address for the kleinsteinhaus, you'll be at the same parking lot. Documentation Center sits below the parking lot for the eagles nest . And once you're nearing obersalzburg signage... More
