Highlight of recent trip to Salzburg was this underground tour, complete with mini-train ride into the mine, underground slides and a boat ride across a small underground lake. Tour included interesting material on the centuries of salt mining in the area. Previous reviewers comments re...More

This is our second visit to Bavaria and we had to come back to the salt mines. My kids absolutely love it. It was informative and fun! Train, slides, boat ride underground, and then a type of elevator back to the top. I can't wait...More

You can get to the salt mine from Salzburg on the 840 bus. It is open in the winter when many others are closed. You dress up in miners' clothes for the tour which begins on a little railway, includes trips down miners' slides and...More

If you are in area of Salzburg, don’t miss this attraction. Well balanced to be suitable for different generation, slightly biased towards fans of nature and technology.

A good way to present the tour, staring with a train ride, walking, slides and a small boat. The tour was in German, but headsets were available for English and other languages. The guide shared some information, but did not go into much detail.

Great tour with train ride into mine. Educational tour through mining and it’s impact on the area. Fun slide ride to lower level with a board ride across an underground lake.

It was fairly busy when we visited (September 2017), with a lot of people milling around the ticket area - a mixture of people waiting for tickets and those who had already paid. When we purchased our tickets we told that we would get our...More
