We went to the salt mine in Berchtesgarden and it was a fantastic tour. There is a little something for everyone on this tour. You start by putting on coveralls so you don't ruin your clothes and you hop on a little miners train to go to the start of the tour. This tour was well laid out. Excellent use... More

My family and I had been interested in a going on one of the salt mine tours since our last visit to Salzburg. We chose the salt mine tour in Berchtesgaden since we were planning on visiting other sites in the area. We bought our tickets in advance and were able to start the tour immediately. At the start, we... More

It's interesting , different from other salt mines I visited. For the kids it's great : you go by small train, 2 slides and a boat. Really great experience.

Great day out for the family - a fast and lengthy ride into the mines on a train followed by a guided tour of the mines, covering the value of salt through the ages, the development of mining and production methods and bringing us back to the surface safely

It's important not to say too much about this experience as it will spoil it.. I first did this underground trip in 1969.. it's changed a little but the latest trip was just nostalgia.. my 15 year old son thought it was great fun and quite a spectacular opportunity.. If you're in the area, you must take a trip, really..

Very interesting excursion, we were with 2 children (6 and 12). You will not only get the information on the history of the salt mine and the production process now and in the past, you will also travel with the small mine train (twice), ride a roller coaster (twice), travel with the ferry through the salt lake and ascend with... Really enjoyed going thru the salt mine. Very interesting. Doing this gives you more perspective of the history of the region. Absolutely loved the slides! Did not want to do it, but when the five year olds slide down, you put your 60 year old fanny on the slide and scream all the way down. What a hoot!

This is a real fun experience, the underground tunneling is mysterious, the salt caves with slides is thrilling, the mirror lake is fascinating, the multi screen show on the history n science of salt is educational, last but not least, the gift shop made this a total awesome family experience!
