This stretches from the main station for half a mile through Stuttgart centre. It's framed by department stores, cafes and restaurants and runs through the Schlossplatz, a large open space extending onto the "Neue Schloss" the previous residency of the King and royalty of Baden-Württemberg.
This part is a picturesque square framed by colonnaded buildings where food and other festivals, including the awesome Christmas Market and the Weindorf are held through the year.
Gorgeous in summer for shopping, chilling, local food, beer and proper German wine.

Koenigstrasse -Royal Street appeared in Stuttgart due to two circumstances. For a street 1, 2 km long, land was needed. It was quite expensive in the center of Stuttgart, so the city found the same solution as in many European cities (Madrid, London, Paris)- demolished medieval walls that have lost any military significance due to the progress of artillery. Koenigstrasse appeared on the site of the filled-in fortress moat. But the name "Royal", oddly enough, is due to Napoleon. There were no kings in Stuttgart, but there were dukes, but the French emperor, who redrawn the map of Europe, created the kingdom of Württemberg by his will in 1806 after the defeat of Prussia, which remained after its fall nominally until the November Revolution of 1918. Kings appeared, Royal Street appeared. Any tourist inevitably gets to it from the Main station. Which is convenient, there is a Tourist office on the street. The main attraction of the street is located approximately in the middle - Castle Square. Until the 60s of the XX century, there was automobile traffic on the street, but then the Stuttgart residents removed the tram and all automobile traffic underground. Otherwise, the street is completely ordinary: shops, cafes, restaurants. With one feature... It should be remembered that Koenigstrasse is the third in terms of traffic, but the sixth largest rental street in Germany after Munich's Kaufingerstraße, Berlin's Tauentzienstraße, Frankfurt's Zeilstraße, Dusseldorf's Koenigsallee and Hamburg's Spitalerstraße. And rent is naturally taken into account in the price...

When you think about Stuttgart the first thing which pops up to your mind is Mercedes-Benz, so many people visit this city for its museum. Well, after our visit, in the evening my parents and me had a nice stroll on this avenue, rich of shops and restaurants. It will not disappoint you!

It's a beautiful building... But it is also a shopping mall. Wasn't expecting that as we approached it. Worth seeing from the outside at least.

I live in Stuttgart and often visit Königstraße. There are lots of restaurants and showrooms on this street and also plenty of garden space to sit and relax. It is a good place to go for a stroll on weekdays. Avoid it on Saturday as it is too crowded even during the Corona times.
