The New Palace or Castle is an imposing eighteenth-century building located in the center of Stuttgart. The main facade faces the famous Schlossplatz, on two of the remaining sides the palace is surrounded by the royal gardens while the fourth faces the Karlsplatz, on the corner of which stands the Old Castle. The building houses ministerial offices inside and therefore cannot be visited.

It is in the heart of the city of Stuttgart. This Baroque palace was built by Karl Eugen (Duke of Württemberg), who returned to Württemberg at the age of 16. Construction began in 1746 and was completed in 1807. It was almost completely destroyed by air raids during World War II, but rebuilt in 1958-1964. It is currently used as a government building for the state Department of Finance, and it is not possible to visit the interior.

The New Castle (or palace) is essentially a huge office building built as a “palace.” We didn’t go inside (special tour apparently required), but we did view it from several sides, it makes an excellent backdrop for the multiple photo worthy subjects in the area. I recommend shooting it across the pond in the evening when the reflections add to the grandeur of the place.

This is the new castle wich is located just accross the stree from the old castle. Both are worth having a look at. The new castle houses a lot of city and local government offices however they still do tours. Centrally located in the middle of downtown Stuttgart this castle as well as the old castle are worth visiting while you make your way through down town.
A good tip - when visiting Stuttgart if you check the events calendar a large number of the festivals and gathering occur in the square near the castle so you can kill more than one bird with a stone and maximize your trip. The castle is also very easy to find on a map and can be used a point of reference when locating other attractions.

The new castle is just beautiful amongst the regal fountains and the chill morning. The place boasts of a great history of the city. The palace is also well lit into the night which gives a beautiful view of the palace.

A beautiful castle inside and out. We chose to take the hour-long tour (which in retrospect wish we did not do with our 3 year old..). The tour was in German, which was expected, but the guide did her best to translate when she was able to accommodate us. This castle isn't especially grand or over-the-top, but if you are in the area it is a must see.

At first I thought it was one of those magnificent castles from older time but not really. The castle in Ludwigsburg is a lot more interesting. Just... not that much to see. I heard the castle was once used as the office for the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Germany as well. Probably why it doesn't really excite me at all?

This is not your typical european castle, because it's more modern than the rest, as the name suggests. It contains several government offices so you cannot go in as easily. But the view from the outside at the Schlossplatz is awesome.

All Germany's Castles are great and you should try to see as many as you can. No one builds them anymore.

The castle is well maintained. Good that the management had orderly organisation of tours. We joined an English speaking group and got into the castle punctually. It would have been better if the tour is a little bit longer with more interior space being opened up to visitors.

I cannot locate any information regarding day tours, and cost thereof. Or is the Castle open to the public? Thank you.

Yes, but We didn't take one as we were in Stuttgart for the Christmas markets. The Neuss Schloss appears to be rather plain when compared to other castles and it is in a non descript location. Too many other places to visit but good luck.
