This is my second visit. Many beautiful rooms, easy walk from Hbf. Definitely Mannheim's most visit-worthy site.

Visited as part of a tour group from our Scenic River Cruise .

A fabulous evening , we were treated to a tour of several rooms of the palace , these are amazing with artworks & decor which is stunning. This was followed by a champagne / canapé reception.

The highlight of the evening was a private concert at the palace . A fabulous Mezzo Soprano , a Bass & a pianist. Music from Mozart, Rossini, Bizet , Bernstein and much more .

A really memorable evening.

On a huge empty square you see this impressive however cold and dismissive baroque palace.

From the outside it is huuuuuge!

You can visit some! rooms of the interior and have a look at the interesting artefacts ... (the Barockschloss is also used by the university).

Although similar with other baroque palaces around Germany, I believe that it's a unique experience to visit this one. You will find it next to the river, adjacent to the local University and close to other landmarks! It has a lot of stuff to see inside, such as things belonging to previous kings, pieces of art, old pieces of literature etc. Worth a visit since it is close to city centre and not in the suburbs (as it is expected compared to other cities)

I really enjoyed the visit to this palace. I had expected to just see a bunch of rooms in baroque style and probably not get much more out of it. There is a free interactive guide available to download on your phone, which makes the visit truly interesting, however. You will find the QR code just inside the entrance on the right.

The interactive guide includes audio and video and has loads of choice so that you can decide for yourself how much information you want about particular rooms and about the numerous follow-up topics that the guide also covers. Included is information about each room, but also about the people who lived at the palace as well as descriptions of things like what it might have been like to visit the palace as a guest. It is very well done.

The palace itself has some spectacular stuccos, frescoes and furnishings, some of which are original and some of which were recreated after the palace was damaged during WWII. The actual area you visit is a small portion of the total ( huge) palace . Most of the palace building how houses the University of Mannheim. The visit includes the imposing 'knights' room' and the apartments of the elector.

This palace is standard Baroque, but worth visiting. Many ornate rooms that differ mainly in color, sometimes theme. The paintings over the staircase are ghastly, especially if you compare the with those of the Wurzburg Residenz. There is a nifty music rom where you can listen to different composers.

As previously stated, this palace is part of the University of Mannheim. You should use Google Maps when you leave the train station. You will be guided around the back of the palace and into the campus. You are not lost. Just continue to follow the map through the campus until you come out into a big empty plaza. That is the palace courtyard. Look for an entrance door to the left of the central clock.

Do not waste your time or money on this place. Extremely rude at the front and hours posted on their website are apparently subject to change at whim. the area itself is very seedy, the palace is run down, and overall seems very poorly run and would not recommend at all.

Nice castle located just a 15 minutes' walk from the main railway station, today it hosts the University of Mannheim. Make sure you wear solid flat shoes as the path to reach the main gate is not ballerinas friendly :) Leave alone heels. There are works going on as of now (July 2022), just in front of the gate.

When we were here, we could only see the castle from outside. It is huge, but not very exciting to see it from outside. There were some benches outside with lots of vine bottles and beer bottles lying around so the area was not very attractive.
